I was wondering today, what was the first record you EVER bought? Mine was KISS destroyer. No regrets there. I still love that album. I remember I wore out the song "do you love me" and "sweet pain".

I think mine was a puff the magic dragon one when I was a kid...It had a cool cover and inside.“When you say “It’s hard”, it actually means “I’m not strong enough to fight for it”. Stop saying its hard. Think positive!”Comment

I did not personally buy it because I was too young at the time. My parents bought me a Space 1999 record which I still have. As a fan of Space 1999 It was awesome listening to the stories as a kid. Guess you kind of had to be there.Enjoy what you like, and let others enjoy what they like. (C) Azrak 2009

Mine was probably a Beatles album at a yard sale and I was probably around 9 or 10. I would go to every yard sale and flea market within walking distance and buy mostly records. I never did see too many toys at them when I was a youngster.
I did specifically ask Mom for records here and there though like Dream POlice by Cheap Trick.Comment

$4.49 at Kmart and I still have it. After that, there was a lot more KISS album buying ahead of me.

Wow, I wish I could remember. I do remember getting an Elvis Gold like Megoat, but it was another volume. I had tons of those story records as a kid. The clearest memory I have of buying rock records as a pre-teen was the singles for J. Geils "Love Stinks" and Blondie's "Call Me". I always had a thing for Debbie Harry back in the day.Comment

Besides kiddie records like Seasme Street...the first 45s I remember buying were "Band on the Run" by Wings and "Beach Baby" by First Class. I wasn't allowed to play "Band on the Run" if my father was home...a guy where he worked used to constantly sing the line "If I ever get out of here" and he hated the song and the guy.
My first album was "KISS Alive II". Good Times!Think OUTSIDE the Box! For the BEST in Repro & Custom Packaging!Comment

Hmmmm...I think it was Jackson 5 ABC (the album). The album was 8 yrs. old at the time, and I found it at some hole in the wall record shop near my Jr. Hi for like $2.99."Do you believe, you believe in magic?
'Cos I believe, I believe that I do,
Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic
If your mission is magic your love will shine true."Comment

This question could be answered in many different ways. I had several records my parents bought me as a kid before I was old enough to buy records for myself.
But, the first actual record I bought was Motley Crue's "Theatre Of Pain."
I some kid gave me Motley's record "Shout At The Devil" because he didn't like it. I was hooked and one summer I save a whole ten dollars and went to the store with my Grandmother and purchased Motley Crue's "Theatre Of Pain" about a month after it came out with my hard earned money I saved up from doing chores around the house. Ten bucks was a lot of money to a young kid like myself in those days.
Yeah, I had about five or six KISS records my parents had bought me from time to time when and I inherited my uncle's Beatle albums, so I had plenty of records before I bought my first one with my hard earned money.
I must be really old because I had an 8-Track player as a kid also. I have boxes of Beatle 8-Tracks that I inherited from various family members. I still have them!!More custom Mego madness on Facebook right here...

I find it uncanny and odd that I had to been about the same age myself, and I was for certain Paul was singing Man on the run also. I thought I was the only kid that thought that, I guess I am not alone.
Later on, I did figure it out. Sadly, that song might have been one of my early experiences that turned me into a Beatle nut. I think I found myself thumbing through my mother's Beatle records about age 5 or 6 and playing them. It was either that or John Lennon's Imagine. It is hard to tell because I was so young.
Still find that funny that there was another kid the same age that was singing the same wrong lyrics.More custom Mego madness on Facebook right here...
