England movies banning popcorn .. *** ?

I thought theaters had to hand the majority of their proceeds over to the film studios and as someone already posted, maked the bulk of their money selling concessions (which is why it costs $5 to buy $.25 worth of popcorn).

There was a great movie theater in D.C. I can't remember the name of it or whether it is still in existence that used to seat you at a table and you could order a full meal including pitchers of beer while you watched the movie. The food was good and I believe there was a button on the table that you pushed to alert the waitresses that you wanted to order something so they weren't continually bothering you during the movie.

I believe that is correct. When I worked at a theater, we made virtually no money from ticket sales, and everything from concessions. Making popcorn was like a holy ceremony of some kind. If you screwed it up they would chop off a hand. My lady won't even got to movies if there isn't any corn.

I rarely go the the cinema anymore.
To be honest, with everybody eating, drinking, talking on cell phones, or giving a running comment on the movie, I'm fed up with it.
Eating popcorn is fine by me, but often it seems like feeding time at the zoo. If they'd stuck to popcorn, I could have lived with it. But giant sized bags of potato chips?
And apparently, most people can only eat them with their mouths hanging wide open.

Agreed...concessions are the money-maker at movie theaters, not the films themselves...the films only brake even for the theater.

Besides, I love me some popcorn, i gotta have it...it's tradition.

I couldn't have said it better myself!
My wife couldn't see the subtitles during The Dark Knight due to a guy with a particularly large head....
And as you know, Christian Bale needs subs to make himself understood, grunting his way through the movie.
They should have a head size checker in theatres....
And a hat remover....
A hairdresser to scissor off excessive hairdoes...
