Anyone watching the Olympics?
I know opening ceremonies aren't until tomorrow but some of the team sports have already begun. I watched the U.S. women soccer team lose a stunner to Norway yesterday morning and watched the U.S. men beat Japan this morning.
Men's basketball is good but I can't believe at how bad the U.S. men's team has performed over the past couple of Olympics. I don't know if there is too much ego on these dream teams but there is no way any country should even come close.
I can remember in the late 70's/ early 80's the Olympics were the thing to watch as a kid. It was that sense of patriotism and the burning desire to win the most medals.
Maybe it was the cold war days when we just wanted to beat Russia at everything. I have always been a Summer and Winter Olympics junkie since I was a kid and will practically watch any sport no matter how boring.
My kids don't seem too interested in it at all which is a bit of a shame. I guess it's just a sign of the times.
