Can Dark Knight seriously challenge Titanic?

Its doubtful, but TDK could make a run at Titanic's domestic numbers, but worldwide, it just doesn't have a chance. $1.8Billion is an awfully big number. I see it likely ending up #2 domestically,at least I'd like it to do that well. I'l be adding my nearly $13 more in IMAX this week. In fact, I think I have to pay for my brother and his fiance, so make that #39 bucks more.

I'm one of the few who haven't seen TDK yet due to my oldest son recovering from surgery. He'd kill me if I went without him, so I'm waiting. Should be well enough in another couple of weeks. Looking forward to it.

I remember when Titanic came out and I asked my Dad if he was going to take my Mom to see it. He said "no, I already know the boat sinks". Gotta love it.

I just watched Titanic yesterday and allthough the scenes of the ship sinking are superb you are right when you say that as a film it is not very good and in some places it's awful.

Yes, it has a sappy story...but you just can't discount the special-effects...they are simply spectacular.

I don't think it will topple Titanic, but $500 million is within reach. The kids go back to school in about a month. That will be the test. Also, will any other late summer movies perform better than expected?
