Again...the USA is not the center of the universe.
Queen has always be much larger and popular around the world outside of America.

Mike and Jemboy,. . .I think a few people pointed out through the thread. . .that whilst their popularity was not maintained in the USA so much after the 1970's. . . that it never wained in other parts of the World. And what are the greatest or best things in the world. . . should not always be determined through the filter of American eyes/or tastes.
Similar thing in the Doc Who thread perhaps going on. A cultural divide. America is not the world. . . it is just one of the better places in it.
Your World Series Baseball. . . .um. . .how much of the world actually plays it. . .big in the US and Japan, and the rest of the world plays Soccer/Football.
So we all filter the world through our own cultural perspective. . . but everyone in the world is entitled to an opinion, and in many cases, the rest of the world may differ to the general American populus.Leave a comment:

yeah I think they are over rated but I was never a Queen fan.
I do remember they were popular in the 70s when I was a kid. I don't remember them being super popular other than that time.Leave a comment:

Wow. This past week we wondered about Queen and Doctor Who being overrated and what happens tonight on Sci-Fi Channel? We get them singing a Queen song on Doctor Who.Leave a comment:

This thread proves once and for all that Queen is great...because had Mike posted about Journey, Reo Speedwagon, or Styxx...no one would have given a damn, lol.

Looks like Sacha Baron Cohen's gonna need to grow that Borat stache; the British comedian, best known for his film "Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan," is set to star in a biopic of the band Queen. Baron Cohen will play the band's front man, Freddy Mercury, who bears a resemblance to the comedian.
Apparently, Johnny Depp was also up for the role but Baron Cohen won by a nose (pun intended). The film will show the wild life of the gay rock-star who partied until he contracted AIDS and died at age 45.
UPDATE: Evidently, the whole thing is totally untrue.

In Hollywood, casting rumors float around every day. Well, "Another One Bites the Dust."
Reports that "Borat" star Sacha Baron Cohen will play legendary Queen frontman Freddie Mercury in a musical biopic are "absolutely untrue," the actor's publicist told MTV News.
Mercury died in 1991 from complications due to AIDS.Leave a comment:

WOW - I was just watching the vid clips. . .thanks for those guys. . .I litterally was getting shivers not just up and down my spine but all over in the Live Aid clip 1 with the Bohemian Rhapsody bit. . .amazing.
Of course Freddy Mercury in that clip does look like Borat's stunt double, and I can see quite easily. . .Freddy running around stage feeling quite natural in Borats Man-kini!!Leave a comment:

I saw them in concert during the Day at the Races Tour, in 1977. Great Show -- the Band was spot on.Leave a comment:
