I just saw it tonight. I think it's right about at the same level as the first one. Good, but not great. The movie is almost too crammed with creatures (as impressive as they are) for its own good. The story is more cohesive than the first and the characters remain very likeable. The novelty did wear off a bit, though.

Saw this on dvd last weekend.. I'm a big fan of the first film, so I was looking forward to it. I liked it, but thought it was somewhat more dopey (for lack of a better word) than the original. While the first was both smart and stylish, I'd say the stylish easily overwhelmed the smart this time.

But visually, the film is just incredible.

Missed it at the googleplex, too.

Got the 3-disc DVD - cool now I can watch it on my computer, too...
A lot happening in the movie. WOW! Chock full of action! Great story. I kinda miss the blue flame though, that was cool. A sequel that is better than the first movie!

I still have to check the credits - the one guy looks like Tom Cruise - I know it isn't, but still...and the girl looks like Calista Flockhart - I know, I know it isn't...

It was fun, but could have used a little less laugh-out-loud humor.
            It was almost a comedy.
Acting was great, and indeed, the Manilow scene was great. Perlman seemed in good form.
The Elf was a bit too much Evil Legolas for me, but all and all, a fun ride.

Picked it up on blueray. My son and I watched it the other day. Loved it. My son had a huge smirk on his face when they got hammered and sang Manilow

I guess it's my turn to be Mike aka Captain Bringdown here...lol.

I didn't really like Hellboy 2 (ok, you guys can shoot me now, lol).

It just felt like a Mummy movie with Brendan Frasier.

And that Golden Army...they were easy to destroy. You think that puny army would've been a match for our armed forces? I don't think so, lol.

I mean the actor and character himself, Ron Perlman/Hellboy is fantastic...but the rest was ok...not bad or anything...just ho-hum for me.

                    Sorry.

I thought it was a good movie, and definitely one worth buying. But I didn't think that it was as good as the first one. I just liked the storyline better and the metal-coated Nazi was a cool as everything (well, except for the whole Nazi part).

Hector, did you notice that the Golden Army rebuilt itself after they were destroyed by HB and co.? One part of that fight bugged me, why the heck wasn't Liz frying the robots?

I loved the first movie and didn't think it could have been bettered, but I was mistaken. Hellboy 2 was the film of 2008 for me by a longshot!
