I saw it yesterday with the kids. Hellboy was fantastic

The effects were awsome and there was just the right amount of humor.

I loved the Barry Manilow bit. Honestly the whole theater started singing it was great.

Yep, saw it yesterday and loved it. Went to a daytime showing and it had a big crowd. Still got Can't Smile Without You stuck in my head.

Saw it last night and had a lot of fun. I think I liked it better than the first, it was a little lighter. Guillermo del Toro's character designs were unbelievable.

^^i agree with megoscott...i did like this one a lot, but i think that i liked the first one even more. this one seemed to have a lot more "slapstick-y" stuff in it, or was that just me? it wasnt bad at all...i dunno...just hard to explain what i mean, i guess...

^^^ Yeah, it seemed to be a bit lighter, despite the big developments for HB and Liz. More laugh out loud bits. Loved Jeffery Tambor.

I've heard all good on this so far, but have had a hectic week, so I haven't checked it out yet. On the bright side, I'm checking out The Dark Knight tomorrow at a press screening.

Hellboy II is a good film with some great scenes. I think cinematically it's somewhat superior to the first Hellboy, but it isn't quiiiite as engaging, partly because the novelty has worn off. The fight scenes are ultra-kinetic and stylish, an element lacking from HB1 (though present in spades in delToro's previous film, Blade II). There are some touching moments in this sequel, too, which the first film lacked. The love story is actually fairly interesting if you go in for that kind of thing (which I do). The villains are dangerous and compelling, with a visual flair that keeps your eyes glued to the screen. I do miss the human agents who were a substantial part of the first movie; here, except for Tambor, they're all just faceless monster fodder. I give the movie 3 stars, on par overall with the first HB. Repeat viewings with the inevitable DVD purchase may push that rating higher.
