I can only think of one move that was better than the book. "The natural" in the book the guy was a real jerk.

Hmmmm....
Fight Club. The movie was MUCH better strctured than the book, and they fixed one of the weird problems of the book. (In the book Tyler is trying to destroy history.)
...BUT the book has extra chapters that explain stuff from the movie. Like where Tyler got the idea to use human fat for the soap, and who the tall guy with the trenchcoat was. (He's the mechanic.) There's also an extra chapter after the point the film ends.

The Talented Mr. Ripley. The book depicts Tom as a cold-hearted, uncaring sociopath, while the movie shows us he feels remorse for his misdeeds and that he only commits them when his back is against the wall. The movie also raises the stakes to the point that he is compelled to commit one more grisly crime at the end.
I want to ask CTC what happens in the last chapter of Fight Club?? "You met me at a really weird time in my life...."Comment

I thought "Blade Runner" was better than "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" and I also thought "Children of Men" was better than the book.Comment

Planet of the Apes. The original novel is way different than the movie, and in my opinion doesn't work as well.Comment

I would have to say "Forrest Gump".
In the book, him and Jennie sat around and did drugs and had sex alot. He became a wrestler and a NASA astronaut in the book. He was more like "Rain Man" in the book when it came to his mind.
The book had nothing to do with the "History" of the USA for the last 50 years.sigpicComment

American Psycho. Weird read. It was good... accidentally, I think. Not great lit, but I couldn't put it down. Somehow Easton Ellis' style (?) fit right in with the character's psychosis. But the movie accomplished the goal of the book -- depicting an '80s corporate raider as the true bloodthirsty monster he actually was -- much better.

BINGO!! I HATED the Book! It was God-aweful!
I've give Ridley Scott a lot of credit for turning it into a truely great Movie! And the Producers...for having the smarts to take it away from Him, and have Harrison Ford do the "Voice over" narration...it made the Movie! Some times Directors can't step back and be objective...they're to close to it...and the need the Producers.

2001:A Space odyssy....it was originally a short story and was lengthened wilst the film was being made by A C Clark in cohesion with Kubricks suggestions (alledgedly).ENGLISH AND DAMN PROUD OF IT

Yeah, Bat, I really liked the voice-over too. And as for Dekard being a replicant, I thought it was cool when Rachel was the only one……Comment
