    I agree.

Yes, Apocalypto missed a lot of historical marks...like some of the different pyramids were made during different classical Mayan periods...and the Conquistadors arriving...well...they did...but 500 years later during the height of the Aztec Empire not the Maya golden period.

But it was a beautifully well-made film...great cinematography, and although the story was simple, it was an edge-of-your-seats type of story...and I loved that it was in the Mayan language, that was a great decision from Mel Gibson.

I loved the violence because it was indeed during a violent period...we can't always paint a pretty picture.

The film is definitely not for the kiddies.

That's what I loved about the film...hearing a different language and the cinematography was GREAT!! I was too scared to watch it at first but I lived through the gore. A lot of it was not necessary, but that's Mel Gibson for you...

i rented it and it was OK..of course I hated 300 for the same reasons you guys hated 10,000BC.
Yeah. . . I completely agree with you there. . .I thought the Wooly Mammoths were WAY TOO BIG in 300 also.

Yeah, 300 was so out there, but I can accept it because it's based on Frank Miller's graphic novel as opposed to the real Battle of Thermopylae.

However, the thing I detested the most about 300 was the narration, good grief, I hated that, especially that dude's raspy voice...and narrating the obvious time and time again...He struck with his sword (and you seen the very same thing on screen, lol).

Ehem, they were Asiatic elephants, not mammoths...

While I liked some of the Graphics,.. I too thought the Movie was Horrible. Once you make it past some of the CG,.. the Movie left you saying "Who Cares" by the end of the Movie. The over all Plot Just blew imo.

I guess I'm the odd guy here. I thought it was entertaining. Not a masterpiece but good. I just thought of it a sci-fi and not reality though.

I haven't seen 10,000 yet (not brave enough, lol), but I've read a little about it and I know that its creatures -- the mammoth, the saber-tooth cat, and the "terror bird" -- were all real animals. However, the mammoth as depicted is WAAAY too big and was never domesticated (if it had been a beast of burden, it probably would not have died out or been hunted to extinction). The cat is also WAAAY too big, and it was a New World animal while this movie tales place in Eurasia. The terror bird was also a New World animal that lived 40,000 years before this movie!

If this film was in any way interesting or well made, the inaccuracies wouldn't matter so much, but good lord, no one seems to have enjoyed it, so one must wonder what possessed the filmmakers to introduce such glaring errors only to produce the worst kind of Hollywood trash.

BTW, I don't have a problem with the actors speaking English; after all there was some language spoken at the time, and we can consdider that the film is merely translating for us, as in 300, Alexander, King Arthur, etc.

That was One of the Single most Cool parts about the Flick. It gave me hopes for a Kazar Movie from Marvel Comics. While watching the Movie with the scene's of the Cat,.. it made me think About Sabu.

Don't forget, the mammoths were running anatomically all wrong as well.

...and yes, I could live with them speaking English like the other flicks, I just got spoiled with Apocalypto, that's all.
