    Goodbye George

I did a tribute style post to George on my site.
Wish I could have seen him LIVE on stage some place. I've been watching youtube clips this morning and already feel nostalgic.

RIP Mr. Carlin. You were the best narrator for Thomas the Tank Engine for me.

In terms of R rated humor, George Carlin was my ultimate favorite. In terms of looks, he was an oddball. And while I did not like to listen to his humor on religion, I loved everything else. My first exposure to Carlin was in my freshman year in college. One of the guys in the dorms was playing a tape of his called Playing With Your Head. I heard his routines on Love and Regards and Sports. He also had What Am I Doing in New Jersey with the routine on Cars and Driving. I've been an incurrable Carlin fan ever since. I got to see him live twice at the Tivoli Theater here in Chattanooga, TN.
You will be sorely missed George.
        R.I.P.
        Cheers.

Yeah I heard. Very sad. Just caught his last HBO special. He still had it in him. He was definitely a man of this century worth remembering.

          RIP George Carlin

I will echo some sentiments already posted. As a Christian, I did not care for his humor on religion but to each his own. He was a great comedian and really hilarious. I found myself laughing at things I probably shouldn't have but did anyway.

I think I heard on the radio that he was the first guest host ever to appear on SNL.

I saw George Carlin live when I was in college. What a great, funny night that was! Thanks for all the laughs, George RIP.

I remember sneakingly watching his HBO specials at a friend's house as a kid. Then when he showed up in Bill and Ted, I thought "hey it's that cursing hippie guy"! But he was far more than that. A national treasure, albeit one with his middle finger raised...

I just thought of his comparison of Baseball and Football

He was funny but I had a bad personal experience with him about ten years ago in Vegas. Since then I can't stand him. It's still sad to hear that he died.

Humor is the best way to make people think and Carlin was a genius at it. You enjoy it because its funny, but the next thing you know the truth starts to resonate.

That is one of my favorite routines of his! And the one about "stuff"

I was shocked when I first got on line today and saw the headline about his passing. George will be missed.

His observational humor was second to none and he was one of my favorite comedians growing up. In later years his humor got to nihilistic for me (and I believe that could be blamed on the death of his wife) but I still dug his older stuff and his movie work and wished he could've been with us longer

I was very surprised to hear this news the first thing this morning. He was very funny and smart. I really enjoyed listening to him.

                              Rest in peace, George.

Discussing his own enevitable obitiuary "You should just put up a sign that says "Hey, he was just here..." " - George Carlin, 1997

I love George Carlin, and made a point to see him live when he came through the area. If you never saw him live then you really missed that intangible quality to his act that never came through, even in an HBO special. A comic genius who will definitely be missed. I think I'll go home tonight and fire up some the Carlin mp3s I have in iTunes.

PS: The flamethrower joke of his is one of my all time favorites.
