Being in early grade school back in '72,'73 my older brother always had the albums. 'Course when I listened to them, I alway racked up great material for the school playground. Not necessarily the '7 Words', but everything else was gem stuff (rip from the best I always said..). He definitely hit his stride in the '70s, even when he resorted to appearing regularly on the 'Tony Orlando and Dawn' show. Of COURSE, I'm in Milwaukee where he had is famous arrest for using his '7 Words' material on stage here at Summerfest.
He lost popularity in the '80s/'90s, along with pubs like National Lampoon, but he still had his key insight into issues, taking more the form of a elder satirist than making best-selling albums. He took it all in stride and made his contribution to the end. Sleep well, Mr. Carlin.
