I can't tell ya how many times I've had to let an item go because the seller didn't ship internationally. And it would've meant more money for him... oh well...

i usually dont sell to overseas bidders, due to past experiences with a few of them(no one on this board)...and more recently due to the post offices recent charges..it was too expensive to send anything overseas...sometimes more than the actual auction...so it wasnt a good thing to do. however, i do send stuff overseas to certain members on this page(not from ebay)....but that is a little better....i used to send stuff overseas, but it got to the point where people didnt want to pay for the actual shipping charges and that caused problems...so i took away that option. i didnt do it to be an *** or anything like that....if anyone who was ever interested in my stuff and emailed me before the auction was over and wanted/agreed to pay for extra shipping, i would always consider it....

I'm really getting SICK of eBay!! I've tried the International thing at first...it didn't work out well for Me. The English speaking Countries are fine...but the rest.

I've just about had it with eBay now...I hope somebody comes up with an alternative.

P.S. I will ship to any MM Member who asks Me.

I once had a guy from Germany buy something from me and for some odd reason he assumed I understood German and wrote to me in that language. No problem, I just used Babelfish to translate his emails and my responses. German is close enough to English where the translations were not too bad. We exchanged several emails and completed the transaction and I wondered if he had any idea that in reality I knew almost no German at all. In my responses, I just said "I'm sorry for my poor German, I'm still learning"

I'll ship internationally unless it's a big item. At that point, it's not really worth it, and some buyers have no clue that shipping is so expensive for such items, so it just causes problems.

When I have had auctions up on ebay, I just chose the countries I was willing to ship to and it went fine. I know people from countries I exclude cannot bid on the auction because I get messages from them telling me that their bids won't go through.

Honestly, I let most countries bid on my auctions, when I have them going.

I don't ship to Germany because I heard most of them are all internet ripoff artists.

Not sure if it's true, but this schweinhund isn't taking any chances

I've never understood this tendency to not sell to other countries. My sales would go from 30K a year to easily half that if I didn't sell to overseas customers. It's well worth the hassle. And yes, there will be some hassle, but so minor compared to the rewards. Any problems I have I just figure in "the cost of doing business".....

But then again, I'm sure many of you sell mainly toys which 90+ percent of the time stays in the states anyway. I sell a lot of records and vintage clothes where it seems over half of my customers are foreign (and spend a lot of money, too!)--I'd be a fool not to sell to them........

Vintage clothes? Oh yeah, you'd be crazy not to make those available to the Japanese market especially. Big spenders there.

Nice one. I've been to some vintage clothes stores over there and the prices are crazy. I really wish I knew the market, so I could bring a big suitcase or two full of vintage jeans the next time I visit. I'm absolutely clueless when it comes to stuff like this though.

whats wrong selling to someone in the uk or other?
money is money at the end of the day, sure single out a few places that you know that will be trouble, personally id be most offended if someone wouldnt ship to uk, why ever not? you can get all the tracking you need these days

if someone is happy to pay the cost of the goods and the shipping to that country then whats the problem? if it is because you cant be bothered to write a few extra details down at the shipping office then thats just lazy

at crunch times like this when money is tight im greatful, ill take money in yen, ruble, dollar, canadian dollar... any dollar if it comes down to it

dont be a grinch... sell worldwide
I agree. I am not an ebay seller, merely a buyer, so my opinion isn't super valid... but before the dollar all but collapsed I was collecting Madelman heavily from ebay spain and ebay uk. Almost EVERY seller ships internationally. I only had a few in the UK that wouldn't ship big stuff to me ( and their objection was that I would be paying too much for shipping...). Maybe it's a bigger problem for US sellers because we are geographically isolated and more can go wrong on a long overseas trip?
I have gotten some beaten up packages from Europe. One took 2 months and looked like a drunken seal had been playing with it. Damp, and crushed on every side. My only bad experience. Not the sellers fault though, he sent it out promptly (I checked the dates on the customs form), so he got good feedback.

A DIRTY little secret about Ebay is when shipping international everything has to go through customs. If there are an terrorist problems going on in either our country or another shipping slows down.

I have been on Ebay for over 8+ years and have shipped tons of stuff. I shipped to Canada once and it took 24 days to arrive due to customs. Talk about a P.O.'d buyer.

Once when shipping to Italy the tracking info showed package was held at New York for 14 before being sent on to Italy.(sent Air Mail) Buyer very understanding in this case.Took 30 days to arrive.

Sure these are ecceptions to the rule but these things happen. One of the reasons I dislike new Feed back system. WASTE OF TIME I have already been burned 1st month my feedback has gone from 99.8 to 98.4 Stupid buyer used Paypal email address and not Ebay contact address and got ****ed when I didn't reply quickly enough. He had won 2 items so my feedback is muddied.

Off Subject-but I have a friend who upset a Eaby buyer so much he showed up at his home town post office and asked cashier where he lived so he could he wanted kill him. Seller safety is unimportant to Ebay. Didn't rip the guy off he just ticked him off.
