I use a PC at work to design all of my graphics stuff. The programs I use are both Adobe and Corel. I'm a big fan of the right click button on a mouse, so Macs bother me just for that reason. At this point, I would say they are both on an equal par hardware-wise. (But for software I am avoiding Vista right now and sticking with XP).
As for the viruses, I just regularly update my profiles and make sure McAffe runs a full scan through the day. Macs are just as vulnerable to viruses as a PC is. It's just that mostly PCs are what's used out there, so the viruses are designed to go after MS OS more so than Leopard or whatever. So you still have to be careful with a MAC (scan for viruses, etc)
    It's all good!

I made the switch a few years ago to Mac. I am still not sure it was the right decision.

iMovie is why i got it and software that works together - no viruses - GOOD - looks nice, saves space.

Higher purchase price. Problems: power supply went out - covered under factory warantee, logic board went bad out of warantee covered free under customer retention policy, hard drive crashed - not covered - lost data - $100 dollar replacement. keyboard died (well that was my fault I silled a glass -ok 2 glasses - of wine on it.

upgrades needed - RAM $60, hard drive space $$20, external hard drive $120

doesn't work with a lot of software that is available for PC.

      - note if you get a mac - go to mac and down load the old version of iMovie - the new one id pointless

I'm not a real computer guy. I had WebTV from 1999 to 2003 and then switched to a Dell notebook. I upgraded to another Dell notebook in 2007 (Inspiron E1405) which at the time was top of the line from Dell for music and entertainment.

when i had PCs, i ended up with four different CPUs in four years because they kept crashing and dying on me.

i then bought an iMac in 2002, and its the same computer i'm typing on right now.

Considering Apple switched over to Intel chips, I consider the Mac more of a PC than it used to be.

I'm one of the lucky few. I've had my Dell since 2001 and only had one major problem with it. I had some minor issues when I was running ME but since I switched to XP,I've had nothing but smooth sailing.

As far as PC's go lucky = Knowing what your doing. Most problems that people have with their PC's can usually be attributed to ID-10-T errors.

Maybe I'll get flamed here, but I think that twilitezoner's comment is indicative of the difference between some PC and Mac users. It seems to me that a lot of PC owners pride themselves on being able to troubleshoot problems and maybe do a bit (or a lot) of programming. As a Mac user I like my hardware and software to just work without me having to do a lot with it. These are just my observations and opinions only and I'm not trying to put anyone down or generalize too much.

                            Thanks!

Thanks for all the replies! Now i need to shop for a MAC. Do any certain stores online sell Macs for a better price then Apple itself? Do Macs ever go on sale?

                            Thanks again!!!

Seems like Best Buy is starting to promote MACs heavily. I was in there a few weeks ago and they had a really impressive and rather large selection of them on display.

Started out with a MacTV. Combined a pc with the a TV tuner/vcr to watch videos. Then moved to an early imac and a powerbook.

Finally made the switch to pc (hate it) due to compatability issues at work. Early on there just wasn't enough compatible software for Mac/PC.

I would love to switch back....and probably will.
