I think the star bellies are more about competitive consumerism and acquisition of status than personal expression... but irregardless, tattooing is not going away anytime soon. I'm rapidly approaching living off of the proceeds from tattooing for twenty years now.
Every since George Burchett took the art into the mainstream in the late 1890's, tattooing has been a constant , every-present social force. It will ALWAYS exist. The "iceman" (the oldest known mummy) has tattoos. Tattooing is a cultural achievement on par with the distillation of alcohol and hitting other people with sticks. All cultures dicover the lowbrow pursuits early...
I think it's great you have an intense dislike of tattoos. They're not for everyone... and that's one of the things that make 'em great. I would never talk anyone into one, or try to charge their mind about their opinion. Tattoos are a "You in or you're out" thing. Like politics, like religion, like sports or musical taste or sexual preference. It's no ones business but your own.

Is there any significance to this star and does the location near the wrist or ankle mean anything?
A five pointed star tattoo can be a sign of the Chicago based gang The Latin Kings.

I thought the 5 point star out-lined in Blue was the Jewish Symbol.

True. And a six pointed star could be a Crip or a rebellious Jew. A pawprint could mean you're a Blood or a proud dog owner, and a spider web could mean nothing or mean about 7 different things depending on who you are about to start shooting at... meanings are up for interpretation.
Although we did have to sit down and have a serious talk with a guy recently that wanted his initials on him. One letter real big, on the back of each bicep... M.S...Bad, bad call. He had never heard of the MS13 gang, so was a little confused by our resistance.
We also had a south american guy realize he couldn't get his daughter's birthdate as it had a 13 in it and may result in death if he went back home... Gangs suck.

according to my tattooist a star or stars are not a fashion thing, its the most popular tattoo in his shop and hes been open 10 years, he says he chats to other tooists at the shows and stuff and they also say that its one of there most popular line

i also have a star, i didnt start out to have a star but it just turned into 1, i wanted a tattoo as a symbol of respect to my brother mark who passed away at age 21 4 years ago now, i tried drawing some designs using the letter M i joined the m's together in a kind of a star shape and it was done, i decided to go for the regular 5 pointed star, if you look at a normal black outlined star you may be able to see what i mean, it has M's all around it

i kinda also have a very personal tattoo, from my bro himself, he left me with 2 scars on my hand from where he dug his nails in me when he was lying in a hospital bed with a broken neck... kinda ironic that he has left his own mark on me

                rip bro

I thought the stars were from how much a person's feedback is on ebay

I have a star over my right eye. Oh wait. That's Paul Stanley. I don't have any tattoos, but I used to want one on each arm. A cobra on my left, a leopard on my right. Yeah. Out of sight. Seriously.

That star in the picture above is exactly the one I keep seeing but don't know if it is outlined in blue or black.

I was just wondering what if anything it meant especially since I almost always see them located near the wrist or on an ankle. I haven't seen any of them on a neck, back, bicep, etc. where you would normally see them so I thought maybe it had some type of symbolism. They definitely don't have affiliation with any particular gang since the people I know that have them don't even know each other and don't belong to any particular race, they don't work together, and I don't see that there would be any type of singular relationship among them but did find it peculiar as to the placement of them.

i know folks with stars in all sorts of places, i think this is just a coincidence

my star is on my shoulder blade

my bro inlaw has one on his wrist with the date of my nephew birth date

i just think its down to the person who has a tatt,
tattoos can also look blue when done in black, it could be that one is done in blue as ive not seen it, but im just saying some black can react with your skin and look blue, a good indian black for the outline always works best for me

                          test...

i just asked my misses out of the blue where would she like to have a little star tattoo, she said it be a toss up of either her wrist or her ankle

test over, now she wants to read the whole thread, i says go away now

anyways, sounds just like a coincidence to me, its the law of averages.
got me all wound up now talking about tattoos, i think ill watch miami ink now

                          cheers 2cool, appriciate

I have a moon with a star on my left hip. It doesn't really mean anything. I just like celestial designs. I've had it for 11 years.

And The Gangster Disciples also use the six pointed star... As far as a rebellious Jew, how about Geraldo Rivera, he's got one tattoed on him... Okay, he's only half Jewish, but he had to get thrown into the mix anyway...
