Monster of Piedras Blancas. I had not seen this one before. Halloween season every year I try to hunt down old B movies to watch. For a zero budget movie it wasn't bad and the monster was pretty decent looking. Super tame by todays standards but not surprisingly the mild gore in the movie was shocking for its day. Good Halloween flick. I recommend it.Leave a comment:

"The Big Red One"-Pretty good movie, though it does bounce from scenario to scenario fairly quick. 3/5Leave a comment:

On another note... just saw for the first time the 1986 Night of the Creeps.
How did I miss this movie? Gotta say this was a joy from beginning to end. I have seen a ton of schlocky 80’s horror, but this Is truly a cut-above.
Great practical effects. Familiar 1980’s character actors. Good story. A high recommend. It’s kinda billed as a comedy and it certainly has those elements, but not much more than say Fright Night or Lost Boys. It’s kinda in that vein.Leave a comment:

We watched Hubie too... the thermos was a clever conceit!
I thought it started not so great and picked up steam... I was all in by the end.Leave a comment:

I watched this one as well, and wasn't expecting much, but enjoyed it and laughed several times during it. I want his Swiss Army Thermos!Hubie Halloween, Adam Sandler's latest, on Netflix.
Don't judge me, I generally like Sandler's juvenile humor, and always have. My daughter and I enjoyed watching it and got some good laughs out of it. It actually has a good Halloween vibe to it, and homages a lot of sources, and has cameos and appearances by just about everyone you can think of, so they must enjoy working with the guy. I do sometimes wonder how Ray Liotta went from Goodfellas to this, though...

Hereditary
Came out in 2018 and wanted to see it then, but finally caught it this week. A lot of people say it's one of the scariest recent movies. I think plot wise it had some interesting turns, but overall nothing really worked for me. I think on paper it sounds like it could have potential for being scary, disturbing, etc, but it was a once and done for me.

Watched CUBE last night
For a low budget movie they REALLY did a good job convincing me everything was real and let me enjoy the flick without nitpicking sets.
Filmed in Ontario - NICE

Still gets me that people watch RHPS, but then again I have seen it so many times I can used to be able to quote it. And yes I have dressed up at the Midnight Madness shows back in the day, I have played all the Male rolls at one point in time....Rocky Horror Picture Show
Never seen it but heard a lot about it... Back in the late 70's when I was in high school people used to get together and watch it with props and stuff at local theatre events promoted by my local rock station.
Finally watched it the other night on Hulu
Am I missing something ?
I think Little Shop of Horrors (1986) was 10 zillion times better
You have to remember that it was done to make fun of the Horror & musical shows at the time.Last edited by monitor_ep; Oct 22, '20, 12:59 AM.Leave a comment:

RH isn't for everybody, it's fun to see it in a theatre and it certainly has a big following but yeah, it's not for me either. It seems to be one of those things people are either hot or cold on.
My son and I watched this because we assumed it would be terrible and we could riff on it. It's an amiable kid's Halloween special and I laughed out loud twice, so I can't poop on it.Don't judge me, I generally like Sandler's juvenile humor, and always have. For Rocky Horror, i'm not turned off by Curry's character and performance -- IMO he's the only reason I was able to sit to the end... His charm and charisma can even make a turkey watchable.
It's the movie itself … It's BORING
I love movies that are so bad they're good but "Rocky" was just boring -- including 80% of the songs (which happened too often)
That said, Meatloaf and his song was a nice surpriseLeave a comment:

It's not about the movie itself. I admit the film is ridiculous, and lacking plot...but the music, the scenario (a spoof of classic monster and B-Movie fare) is still fun.Rocky Horror Picture Show

Tim Curry is amazing, and the film really does get better when you watch it a few times, are familiar with the timing, and don't take it seriously...but the true experience is seeing it in the theater with the live audience, knowing the lines, and causing havoc.Leave a comment:
