I just watched that trailer. I like both Michael Pena and Dax Shepard as comedic actors. But this movie will be something I eventually watch on late night cable, maybe Redbox...but it's definitely a huge pass for movie theater viewing, no thanks.

I found it was too heavy on the homophobia jokes, it just kept going...and going.

I also didn't get why Ponch is an undercover disguised as a CHP, totally unnecessary.

But as I said, the original was no classic...so I have emotional objection to this production.

      It's not that.

I don't have a strong attachment to the original series and a comedic remake could have been fun. Unfortunately, the movie just looks bad.

I did notice you changed your mind after you actually watched the trailer.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

I believe so, but I'm not certain. In saying that, it seems like most of the TV series that get the "big screen" treatment end up as spoofs. That's never good, in my opinion.

You know what they need to give this comedic reboot treatment to is Murder, She Wrote. Get all those Massachusettsan actors to do the same really bad accent Tom Bosley did, and give Jessica a million nephews and nieces who all seem to be in some sort of trouble. That I'd watch.

Great they rebooted this the same way they rebooted dukes of hazard and starsky and hutch.
Well I know I won't be taking the kids to this one.

I beg to differ with the comments saying that the original CHiPs isn't hallowed TV. Any show that can run a double-length episode featuring roller disco is iconic in my book.

I guess you're entitled to you opinion Hector, but I love the original CHiPs. It was one of the few cop shows that wasn't overly violent and family friendly. It had comedy, drama and sweet car chases! Thank goodness the original is on Me-TV.

I can really sympathize. I've had a lot of stuff I like get terrible reboots and movies too. It's never fun.

I'm trying to figure out why all reboots have to be comedies.
