Prime Rib w/ Au Jus, Yorkshire Pudding, Mashed Potatoes, Gulliver's Corn, Brussel Sprouts w/ Pancetta and finally an Eggnog Creme Brulee. I'm going to end up in a food coma that I may or may not want to come out of.

Yeah, my sister makes the champurrado...never buy it.

My mom used to make tamales, but due to her dementia, she lost the ability to cook.

Not all tamales are created equal...took me two years of searching to find some really good ones...well worth the find too.

Ok, I have clearance to eat tamales and apple pie, while the rest of the family has That/Chinese. What else should be on my menu, with the understanding that it's probably coming from Trader Joe's or a restaurant? Thanks!

Any Mexican restaurants, tamalerias, and markets in your area? You should get your tamales from one of those two. I love Trader Joe's, a favorite of mine...but their prepackaged tamales were dried and salty, and they didn't taste quite right.

You could go to a local tamaleria in your area, search Yelp...you should be able to get some really good stuff.

Champurrado and atole are traditional hot drinks that goes with tamales...but I love coffee with mine...or even milk. Hot chocolate works too. Heck, I've been known to wash down tamales with Coke Zero, lol.

Tamales are great by themselves. Adding rice and beans would be nice too...I like sliced avocados...and some salsa on the side too, heck, sour cream or shredded cheese on top works too...a salad on the side is not outta the question either...

I don't need to tell you on apple pies...it's every American's duty to automatically get his own apple pie...

P.S. What specific city you live in? I can help you find you a good tamale in your area.

It's cool that so many of you are going for non-traditional Christmas dinners. Honestly, I'm sick of the usual turkey/mashed potatoes/stuffing/cranberry, etc. so I'm really psyched that we are doing something different this year (my father was a hard sell though).

I'm on the north side of Columbus, OH. We have a number of taco places & restaurants, plus a chain of Mexican groceries...but no tamale places.

It's going to be chili and cinnamon rolls. That's my kind of Christmas!

I'm making chili and pumpkin bread.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

For us it is Cuban Feast for Christmas Eve. Roast pork, Yucca, Black beans and rice, fried plantains and (maybe) tamales.

Christmas Day is a big brunch with the neighbors.
