The whole SPEED RACER thing is 10 years too late... If they were smart, they would have cashed in when it was still airing on MTV... It's no surprise it's dead in the water.

The promos looked bad. It looks like a CGI crapfest that other than a wasted budget looks like a made for the disney channel movie. I am guessing the story is predictable and lame.

Funny thing about Speed Racer is I loved the cartoon as a kid but have no desire to see this movie.

It looks like an exact translation of the cartoon to live action/CGI, which people are for some reason taking as a bad thing. If it was too different, people would complain that it diverged from the source material. The filmmakers just can't win, it seems.

I'll see it ONLY if it's at the drive-in with another good flick. Instead, I saw Iron Man this week, rather than have to deal with opening weekend syndrome. Awesome movie and worth the wait!

Anyone have actually production numbers on this project? This will certainly go down as a massive bomb for that directing duo, but then again I doubt anyone is surprised. From the first time I saw a trailer for Speed Racer, I knew it was in trouble. Looks like they'll be bleeding badly from this loss. Ironman, on the otherhand, is translating nicely in it's sophomore weekend. We could be looking at a $50 million weekend gross. That would be less than a 50% drop, which is fantastic for any film in this genre. Shellhead is shocking them all. I saw it again today and loved it even more.

I liked the toons, but when I saw the preview for the movie it had crapfest written all over it. Even a couple little kids who were sitting behind me, when they saw the preview they said something like "that looks stupid" pretty bad sign when the kids don't even want to see it.

I knew that it would be a Bomb,.. the Moment I scene the Previews.. & the endless Toys in the Stores. ... I think the Movie will make a slight Rebound on DVD,.. but in the end will not be the hit they thought for some reason... watch out for clearance toys heading into summer & then fall.

I bet my local Wal-Mart Manager is punching himself/herself in the face, right now.

It is a brand new Supercenter with absolutely NO Iron Man merch (not even a beach towel!) and an entire section devoted to Speed Racer for the last three-weeks.

Oh, well....you can mark down crap, but it is still crap.
