What were your top 5 Arcade Games growing up?

    5. Berzerk

INTRUDER ALERT! THE HUMANOID MUST NOT ESCAPE!

    4. Star Castle

I worked at a Fish & Chips place back when I was 13 and Star Castle was one of the games there, so I got quite good at it.

    3. Defender

"And if you play defender I could be your hyper space"

    Beastie Boys

    2. Missile Command

    That rollerball was a trip.

    1. Asteroids

King of the arcade games for me. Fun and simple.....like me.

Very challenging to narrow it down to just 5. There were so many great ones. But if I absolutely had to narrow it down to 5.

    Ms Pac-Man
    Frogger
    Galaga
    Star Wars Arcade
    Centipede
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

I never got to play at arcades all that often because of very strict parents, but when I did over the years, the ones I pumped the most quarter sinto were...

        Space Invaders
        Battlezone
        Gauntlet
        Star Wars Arcade
        Rampage

with Centipede replacing Space Invaders as I got older and it became harder to find.

          In no particular order:

          Defender
          Battlezone (tank game)
          Missile Command
          Donkey Kong
          Tempest

I've never been patient, so while the most popular games were usually busy I opted for Tempest, Battlezone & Missile Command. I've been happy to play them again recently with my son in The Museum of Play in Rochester, NY, a retro arcade in St Louis, or Marvin's Marvelous Mechanical Museum near Detroit.

Man, this is a subject to bring back some memories for sure. MIB41 (Tom) and I spent many nights at PUTT PUTT playing SPY HUNTER, many afternoons at PUTTERS PALACE playing JOUST and many late evenings after work at the CONVENIENT (and I hate to think of the dollar amount in quarters) store playing TEMPEST. Good times I wish we could visit again...
sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.

^^^^ Was just thinking about Joust along with others already mentioned. I also liked Track & Field.

Galaxion and Asteriods were my stand outs.

Never really played at the arcade much, but when my dad and his girlfriend would go bowling on Sundays, we'd go along at play Donkey Kong. I had more of an eye/hand coordination issue then, so I pretty much sucked at games that didn't move vertically or horizontally in a straight line (like Pong games, Space Invaders or Air-Sea Battle). But besides those games, at home on the old Atari 2600, I'd play games like Bowling, Pac-Man, and Night Driver.

'Cos I believe, I believe that I do,
Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic
If your mission is magic your love will shine true."

                            Top 5:
Ms Pacman -- liked it better than pacman
Donkey Kong Jr -- there was one within walking distance of my house, so I played it a lot
Centipede -- thought the track ball was so cool
Wizard of Wor -- always made me jump when the wizard appeared
Robotron 2084 -- only did well when got into a zen state
