Gene Wilder's Willy Wonka >>>>>> Johny Depp's remake...it's not even close.

Wilder's was magical...Depp's was just weird.

So sad. I really liked him in most of the movies he did.

Blazing Saddles was my far and away clear favorite.

Young Frankenstein was a hoot and a half, too.

I think I could have watched Gene Wilder in any role and it would have been wonderful. He was somebody that I always wished I'd met.
Willy Wonka, Victor Franken-shteen, The Waco Kid (whose name was Jim, but most people just called him...Jim). Arguably the most often quoted movie characters.
A huge loss, but on the bright side, he is now reunited with Gilda.
                RIP, Gene.

The first thing I thought when I heard Gene Wilder was dead today was, "Strike that, reverse it!"

His Willy Wonka was a delightful and terrifying influence on me at a young age. RIP, you delightfully funny fellow.

Back in '02 IIRC it was when the Producers/Young Frankenstein musicals were taking shape, The Post referred to him as deceased. I was connected to his agent and brought it to his attention for correction. He told me later "Gene says thanks for reminding him he's still alive".

Just sad we didn't get more work from over the past decades. The man was instrumental in making Brooks work. RIP

I never tire of watching Willy Wonka, Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein, Silver Streak and Stir Crazy. Another magnificent talent lost in 2016.

                      Rest in peace Gene.

Gone is one of the greatest comedic actors of our generation. All of us kids of the 70's childhood would be so different without his movies in our lives.

I never do this when a celebrity I like passes, but tonight I will pop on Young Frankenstein( my wife's all time favorite ) to honor Mr. Wilder. I hope you all do the same soon to celebrate his work.

So may one liners from Wonka, Blazing Saddles and YF that, at least once a week or so ,I can use in real life conversations.

The man was a comedic genius and an all-around talented actor, to boot. RIP, Gene, you'll always be remembered by your family, friends and fans. Welcome to your own world of "pure imagination"...

RIP Gene. Although I knew him from other movies like Waco Jim, Young Frakenstein, Blazing Saddles and Stir Crazy, my absolute favorite was Willy Wonka. And my niece literally wore out a VHS of it, (it actually broke in the player!). One of the greatest comedians ever. We'll miss you Gene.
