Great idea! If I won a crazy amount of money, I'd buy one of the theaters on 42nd St in NYC and turn it back into a grindhouse. Take that Disney!

For example, a couple weeks ago I walked by this ex-grindhouse and it made me sad. I'd buy it, kick out Cirque du Soleil, and have the place running exploitation films like it used to. I'd bring back it's old marquee too.

LOL. I admire your determination, but I think I prefer watching grindhouse cinema in the comfort and cleanliness of my old home. No raincoat required. Have you seen the 42nd street Memories documentary? Yecch.

I'd share it with my parents and I'd get a Ms. Pacman arcade cabinet. Maybe even make a little retro arcade room.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

Start a secure investment fund that I could live comfortably from.

Buy as many houses as possible with whatever's left over, including a beach house for myself.

Lease a Tesla. Buy beach buggy.

I'd buy a big farm. Just not really into anything too fancy. Except maybe a tractor.

First, I'd hire a lawyer, an accountant and a financial advisor. I'd probably set up a trust and some shell companies to minimize taxes and pass wealth on to future generations. I'd invest a large chunk conservatively (US gov't & safe corp bonds, plus S&P index funds), and maybe speculate with a small amount. However, I'd also want a house in the Caribbean (maybe St Barth's), one in the Adirondacks, one in Ireland or Scotland, and maybe a farm & bunker in northern Michigan. If I had enough to do all of that, I'd also write checks to my extended family and maybe some coworkers.

Buy a big patch of land, open an animal sanctuary, and take care of critters that need help.
That would give me all the satisfaction I need.

So many of you have such noble, generous, and responsible ideas, I feel like a heel for wanting a 66 Batmobile.

No heel feeling necessary, Hedji. Heck, in addition to what I named, I would likely try to find a vintage '67 Chevy Impala and have it restored and converted into a replica of "Baby" from SUPERNATURAL. I'd also like go on a Sideshow shopping spree just to pick up some of the figures I've always wanted and maybe commission a few more!
sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.

Nobody should feel guilty for posting their desires...I kind of took it as a given we'd all make sure our families were set for life. I'm talking about when it's time to splurge on yourself, what do you do?

I still wanna live in Castle Grayskull....sigh.

Yea, I never mentioned family because I assumed everybody knew it's a given.

First I would take care of IMMEDIATE family and then I would look into making the money work for me so I don't have to work at all. Buy a building that I can truly do a business the way I'd want to do a business...and that business would be everything I enjoy from Comics to Action Figures to Music. Last, I'd buy a few close friends some gifts that I know that only they can appreciate but have never had the $$$ to buy them for themselves.

                            The beauty that surrounds them
                            Isn't it a pity".
