Can't think of his name but the guy who starred in 300 would make a good Thor.

I like him well enough but he would definitely need to beef up. I also would think Thor should be younger (looking at least - how old is the norse god? a couple millenia?)

" 'Cross the rainbow bridge of Asguard
        Where the booming Heavens roar..(ker-ack)
        You'll behold in breathless wonder
The God Of Thunder, Mighty Thor!"

        Sorry, I couldn't help myself.

Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic

The best hero films, IMHO, focus more on the person than the hero. That's not to say you need Don Blake, but you do need to focus on the human side of the character. I would love a story about Odin's lesson of humility for Thor. And of course, him kicking some frost giant butt

Kevin McKidd is too old and too small, IMO. Thor is a large strapping lad.

The actor chosen needs to be young, IMO, since this first film will deal with the impetuous, prideful Thor, before he was banished to Midgard/Earth. And yes, I repeat Hector's plea: "No wrasslers". Thor needs to be a strong actor capable of handling Shakespearean dialogue and full range of emotions, as opposed to, you know, blind rage like we see in the above pic of... whoever that seething monstrosity is.
                Excellent post.

                  That would rule!

He was the lead in HBO's ROME. The dude can flat out act, looks the part...the only thing is that he's not that big, but I'm sure movie magic will do something about that.

...and guess who's behind him? That's your new Punisher, folk, lol.

                  Great pick if it's true.

McKidd has said that the studio is looking for someone "who looks 20" to play the role of Thor, but there might be a role for him as another character.

                        Odin?

                        Or perhaps even Loki?

Hmm... too bad. Stardust was a wretched interpretation of a book that would have been VERY easy to translate to the screen. If you are a Gaiman fan, you know what I am talking about. I would be reluctant to pay to see this guy tackle something as grandiose as the material promised by the press release.

Most people I know, including myself and other Gaiman fans, really enjoyed Stardust. Perhaps you object to the change in the material, and that's certainly up to you to do so, but at the end of the day the only question that matters for me is "Is the movie any good or not?" -- to which I and many people have responded in the affirmative.

Nah, this idea for a Thor Pic sounds like rubbish to me. This sounds as bad as the Spider-Man script that was floating around in the late `80's which had none of the comics back-story. I wouldn't mind if they incorporated the Thor as Norse God stuff more as a prologue but this is too far from the comic.
