    Thor film

    Thor:

Screenwriter Mark Protosevich has been hired to write a script for a live-action Thor film and stated that "It's going to be like a superhero origin story, but not one about a human gaining super powers, but of a God realizing his true potential. It's the story of an Old Testament God who becomes a New Testament God. It will be mythic, but also bear the unmistakable qualities of a Marvel movie, an epic fantasy adventure." In addition director Matthew Vaughn is citing Gladiator as an influence of the storyline.

After being impressed with his work on Stardust (2007), Marvel Studios signed Matthew Vaughn to direct in August 2007. Vaughn intends to start filming in late 2008,while he rewrites Protosevich's script in order to bring down the budget to $150 million. Protosevich's first draft had a cost of $300 million to produce.

Vaughn has since advised that he is awaiting formal notification from Marvel to begin production

Looks like something totally different, wow!!!

No alter egos like Dr Blake.

I like that...Thor should only be a stand alone dude, no puny human alter ego.

Never liked the Thor character, but the wrestler Triple H would make a good Thor.

        Good grief...NO!!!!

You need an actor...that's why Iron Man works, because of Robert Downey.

        Good grief, no wrassler please.

I don't know how well he'll translate to the big screen. I suppose if you stick in enough barbariac fight scenes people will watch it.

I did like the TV thor who teamed up with hulk - total cheesy fun!

It has to be LOTRs meets Superman via the Rainbow bridge or it just won't work. I'm cool with no Don Blake but what will Thor do as a SI ? Act like a bumbling idiot with glasses and a pony tail?

                  Clem..

I always thought that Big Viking Guy from the 13th Warrior would make a good Thor,.. I think of Thor as a Guy Pretty Much short with Words, & to the Point... Kinda Like Conan in the 1st Film.

Although if HHH Was Thor,.. they could open the Movie with his MotorHead Theme Song. "The Game" .

On a side Note I really enjoyed Blade3,.. & HHH Was a Vampire Lacky in the Film,.. but there was alot of D-ck & Fart Jokes Between his character & Ryan Renolds Character that made me laugh,... I can never get enough of that stuff.

... He does Kinda Look Like Thor to Me.

Traditional Norse religion has an "Old Testament" and "New Testament"?

How about the guy that plays the Viking in the Snickers commercials. The one that throws the barrels like 100 feet when they run out of Snickers. NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! He would make a great Thor. Loki could steal his candy and then he could pummel him with the mystic hammer Mjolnir. YESSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!! I'm not a big Thor guy. I think I'd like it more superheroey,(is that a word??), with an SI and a comic bookey (I'm on a roll with the literary creating today ain't I) storyline. The SI would give the character the ability to be vocal as I agree as Thor he should be like Conan. Short with the words and big with the smashing of evil people. I'm a big RDjr fan but won't get to see Ironman until tomorrow. Can't wait. Everyone is saying it's awesome.
It's not a doll it's an action figure.

Iron Man has just raised the bar and upped the ante on all superhero movies from here on out. With the strong character work evident in Stardust, I'm certain Vaughan will do an excellent job with Thor. The actor chosen needs to be young, IMO, since this first film will deal with the impetuous, prideful Thor, before he was banished to Midgard/Earth. And yes, I repeat Hector's plea: "No wrasslers". Thor needs to be a strong actor capable of handling Shakespearean dialogue and full range of emotions, as opposed to, you know, blind rage like we see in the above pic of... whoever that seething monstrosity is.

Thor is rumored to be played by Kevin McKidd, lately of NBC's "Journeyman". Nothing etched in stone, at this point.
