This is horrible. I just went to the movies this afternoon, and one of the trailers was for his upcoming Green Room. Can't believe this news.

I remember him from Alpha Dog. An underrated film worth checking out.
Haven't even seen the Star Trek movies, just talking about his regular roles.

What a crazy way to kick the bucket, I always found his looks as if he had aged too much before his time. Just kinda old looking.

I have no idea who this guy is, but it's so tragic he died so young! RIP.

I know you guys don't know me in real life. But I've wanted to post something.. somewhere.. and I guess here it is going to be.

I love a lot of things in life. I'll say this and that is awesome.. I'll declare things the "best thing ever". But in reality, there's only a few things in my life that has had ever lasting love, and Star Trek is one of them.

As a child I really enjoyed Star Trek TNG, watching new episodes and watching it M-F at 7pm when it was on. A lot of great memories there. I wasn't exposed much to TOS, but I did catch a few episodes here and there, and I loved those characters just as much - I just didn't know any of the story lines. I collected all things Star Trek as a kid.. action figures, plastic phasers made in the late 80's, early 90's. Great times. A memory I have is crying myself to sleep upon HEARING the end spoiler about Star Trek II. I hadn't even watched the movie.. but I was connected to the character, and it crushed me. Mind you.. there were already 5 movies out at this time, and I had seen none of them.

As an adult I carried on my passion for Star Trek. I'm not a collector anymore, but I love digging up Star Trek stuff at flea markets and garage sales. Through the years of course the older crew started to die off. Old age is a jerk. Cancer's the devil. etc. I was extremely affected by Leonard Nemoy's passing. I had met him just a couple years previous and you could tell age was catching up with him, his hearing was going, a haze in his eye. Very sad to me. Love you Leonard.

Backing up a little.. in 2009 Star Trek was rebooted on the big screen and I fell in love with those movies as well. I thought the casting was perfection. And although many critics and hardcore trekkies found flaws, I thought the movies were masterful and really entertaining. My childhood reborn. Every actor perfect in their roles. Seriously. I can't picture anyone else playing any of those classic characters. One of my fav was Chekov.. Anton.. loved what JJ and Anton did with that character. My day was grim yesterday when I heard the news. Too damn young. Too damn talented. In this society we look up to these actors, but to me it was something more. It was living my life, living my dreams and fantasy. These characters are me. And when one gets taken away like this, I feel a part of me is gone as well. Can't take that back.. but I have the memories I suppose.

I look forward to seeing him for the last time in Beyond. 2nd Trailer looked good... hoping it's a decent movie like the rest were.

                      LLAP all.

I remember an interview with Yelchin when the first Trek movie came out.

He said studying Chekov's accent done by Koenig lead him to conclude the accent done by Koenig was actually a Polish accent.

Yelchin wanted to be faithful to the original as possible so the accent you hear him doing in Star Trek is actually Polish (or his verson of what he thinks Polish sounds like)

                        RIP

I was numbed by the news of this tragedy. Such a freak accident as well - so unnecessary.

Oddly enough, though I like 2009's Star Trek, Yelchin was the one casting I didn't consider to be stellar. Yet his acting in Terminator 4 totally blew me away, even though the movie itself was not that great.

RIP, Anton Yelchin...we hardly knew ye, and I'm sure you had so much more to give. :(

Auto-centric website Jalopnik reports that Yelchin died after his own vehicle, a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee, rolled down his steep driveway and trapped the actor against his own security gate at the bottom of the incline. As the website shares, Yelchin’s car was the same “model that Fiat Chrysler recently recalled after its unconventional gear shifter led to several documented rollaway accidents.”

This may have not been a "freak accident" after all.

                                Old Chekov mourns new Chekov...

Walter Koenig, the actor who brought the character of Pavel Chekov to life in the original Star Trek TV series and subsequent films, only met Anton Yelchin once, but it was memorable. “We spoke on a sound stage for about two hours,” Koenig said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter.

                                Very sweet of Mr Koenig...
