1st thing I would like to say is I love Mego dolls, ( that's what I call them, lol) and is why I joined this great website.
Secondly, thanks to all members who have defended me for my seemingly honest comments on a pretty good documentary.

Let's get one thing straight. Not once have I justified any crime or act that has been covered in the documentary. What i have done is witnessed a great recap of black history and the culmination of wrongs on one side being righted by letting OJ walk.
Not that I agree with it, I can just see it, if that makes any sense.

    Lastly, I love Megos !

Not really sure what the implication is with that statement. That said: Maybe I should state that I sincerely believe we are both here for the same thing.

Again... not exactly getting the implication here, but, firstly, I'll state that I personally never doubted your sincerity, nor your appreciation of the documentary. I have seen many pieces on the OJ case---not sure if I've seen this one---but, that shouldn't matter, in that, I'll take your word for it that it was a pro piece... a solid piece, regardless of if I'd agree or disagree with it's narrative.

I'll also say that, to any members defending your posts, I'd be totally in-the-wrong not to be cool with that, just as I'm appreciative of you defending what you've posted, even in spite of the fact that I believe you don't understand why I'm saying what I'm saying about you pushing your own social/political views, and feel I'm just attacking you unfairly. I get it.

And I feel that the reason this is happening is because you are taking for granted that (apparently subconsciously) integrating your opinion as bolstered by what you've stated was the documentary's narrative:
... They are the victims not only of a heinous crime, but are the victims of the long injustices of the LAPD's inexcusable treatment of blacks for decades....
is actually a harmless, indisputably straight-forward recap of a truth explored in the doc, when in reality, there's a lot more implications to what you're saying there, as well as what the doc (apparently according to you) was saying in regard to this (again, "apparently") inevitable event in L.A. history.

I'd have left out the implication of that I concluded you were implying the event was "justified" and would have settled with an assessment that you were implying, merely a relatively pessimistic view of "cause and effect"... however, you inserted words like "inexcusable" to broadly paint one side of the "cause" of the "inevitable" event---and, well, as I said before, that's when the idea of you "not socio-politically slanting this assessment of the doc" goes out the window.

If I saw it making sense, then I'd have never started down this path.

Again, certain words used (even down to a solitary word like "inexcusable") made me unable to see the logic in your own assessment of what you yourself said.

That said: Concluding what's really being said here, while superficially fun and/or engaging for me... is (I must concede) getting "hotter" as we proceed, as this is a touchy subject, and this is surely far from an appropriate forum to test fate within due to it's "no politics" and overall "family fun" nature.

And that's why I suggested closing down this thread.

I'm fine dropping this, if everyone else is... but, of course feel compelled to answer for myself whenever I see a posted comment that implies any given thing that I see being misunderstood about my posts.

Hue, you've taken what was a harmless thread about a trending topic in America (the FX series and now this 5-part doc) and steered it down a totally different path. So far you've been the only one trying to make MMM's comments into something totally overblown, and been the only one with an issue.

You've requested a few times now for this to be shut down and the Mods haven't yet. If they do, so be it.

Until then can we have it back to discuss this documentary and the history associated with it on its merits?

          Thanks,
          Chris

He always does this. It's not his thread to ask for it to be taken down. Since you started the thread if you want it taken down just pm one of them and presto.

I only saw most of one episode, but it was fascinating. They showed a prosecutor's theory of the case, along with a timeline & forensic evidence. When it was all laid out that simply and efficiently, it made more sense than at the trial. Of course, that wouldn't have cured the other issues encountered by the prosecutors at the time of the trial.

I think I've been quite clear about why I'm doing this. Apparently you think it's unnecessary. Got it. But I don't. Sorry.

???? I suppose I've brought up when things were too political before... so, yeah, but I never took it to this extreme and actually asked for a thread to be shut down.

I wasn't thinking in that mindset, but, yes, it is not a thread I started, but is a thread that I feel was potential political danger, as I believe occurred specifically with some of what mmmark said, as pointed out earlier.
If others aren't seeing it... or are just tryng to be cool... or "not as irritated as Francis"... then I suppose we're all doing our jobs... with maybe the one (hopefully excusable) sin I've made in pointing out that thar be more than straight account going on in mark's post---thar be "opinion" there----it's there whether the general public can see that or not...

And, well, I'm not surprised either way, because the world has gotten to be a STRANGE place in the issues of "race" and "the police"---etc.

Frankly, at this point, the value of removing the thread is moot...so, I wouldn't touch it if it isn't necessary.

Gosh there are so many small details about this case that I just never picked up on or never even knew happened.

For example O.J. not taking his arthritis medication for two weeks before he was asked to try on the gloves. He figured it would puff up his hands and he wouldn't be able to flex his fingers.

Watching this doc it's just more clear how royally the prosecution screwed the pooch.

You have made very sensible comments which are very consistent with the outcome of the trial and the tone of that period. Anyone criticizing your previous post needs to lighten up or get a life.

I love megos too that's why I'm here , I've spent thousands of dollars on them over the years and thank you to the many others on here that don't think I am crazy for that because they have done it too.

I really enjoyed the documentary especially part 5 since I didn't follow the post-trial OJ news at the time.

Saw my public library ordered the DVD today so I requested a hold on their website.

I listened to the OJ director speak with Marc Maron on a podcast episode split with cartoonist Dan Clowes. For those interested in the conversation about the OJ Doc you can find at ***pod.com
