I really like that! Heard Mickey on Tom Petty Radio a few weeks back, and he does sound great! Fun video too! Nice art in that comic!

3 songs released so far on Youtube. This song (by rivers Cuomo), You bring the Summer (written by Andy Partridge) and earlier today "me and Magdalena" by Ben Gibard from Death Cab for Cutie. Nesmith has the lead vocal on the one released today. Nesmith has been playing rhythm guitar on each, Tork on a different instrument each song, seems like Dolenz has been singing only. The drums have been by the Drummer from Fountains of Wayne so far.

Arrgh! "Me and Magdalena" has been taken down before I got a chance to hear it. Apparently the official release is supposed to be May 16. What will I do with myself for 6 days?!!?

Seriously, though I'm really looking forward to this album. It's got songs written by Monkees Peter Tork and Mike Nesmith, plus songs by more contemporary songwriters like Rivers Cuomo and Noel Gallagher, and cover versions of songs from artists who wrote Monkees songs back in the day, like Neil Diamond, Carole King, and Harry Nilsson. Plus it has all four Monkees on it, including older vocals from Davey Jones before he died. It's sounds like it's going to be a great way to celebrate The Monkees' 50th Anniversary.

The Monkees album was released last Friday. it hit #1 on Amazon, #20 on ITunes, and the album is getting rave reviews. Probably the best reviews they have ever received in their career.

I really like the album, it sounds like classic Monkees. It's pure sixties psych-pop, and doesn't try at all to be modern or update their sound, and is all the better for it. It is miles above their other reunion albums. My only disappointment was that the "lost" Davey Jones song they unearthed has actually been released several times on compilations and album bonus tracks, and I already had it in my collection and as part of my Monkees playlist. I thought it was going to be a song I hadn't heard before. Still, it's good to have Davey on there, anyway.
