How much can these prices really go up ?

I heard on TV gas price are hitting $9.00 a gallon in Europe..

Is that going to happen here ?

BTW,

They never say WHY the prices are so high...

Is it because the Earth is running out of gas ?

Or does some sheik need another casino ?

There are many factors, not the least of which is the continuing plummet of the US dollar. Our dollar buys much less than it used to, and thus the price of oil (since it's purchased from outside the USA) is higher.

Ohh noooo!!! not another dreaded gas thread. Must you remind us of that dreadful liquid gold like substance? Right before all of the gas prices started to spiral I had seen on the local news that the gas companies were wanting to get the gas up to atleast $5.00 a gallon. It would not surprise me to see it reach that and maybe even beyond sadly. The real sad part of it is that I swear I think I actually see more people on the highways now then ever before. Kind of like child psychology. If you tell the kid that they cannot have it that is when they want it the most. I just cannot help but wonder where it will eventually end up. ????????? I "think" that the gas companies are doing this one, because they can and no one will do anything about it. Two, With the announcements of alternative fuel sources the gas companies are alarmed that they may no longer be the bigest game in town in the future. In other words they want their paycheck now all in one lump sum while they can get it. Just my thoughts.

Regular gas is $3.64 a gallon around our parts.

It is going higher. All you have to do is check out the price of a barrel of oil. $120 a barrel!!!! These are futures so the price hasn't hit the pump yet....we're only experiencing prices at around the $100 barrel so we're looking at $4.40 a gallon or so coming soon to a gas station near you.

The falling $ is part of it, increased demand from developing countries such as China and India, OPEC controlling most of the supply side, and lots of speculating going on. This is how hedge funds and such make their money...they pile in creating an artificial demand causing the prices to get out of control. When it's said and done, I think the prices will get back below $3 a gallon once all of the nonsense is driven away from the markets which will happen at some point....wish I knew when...if I did obviously I'd be out placing my bets than adding my $.02 which won't buy a drop.

Hell check the news we are running low on food staples like rice. And corn is being used more for ethynol so third world nations cant afford it for food.

All this end of the world 2012 stuff is begining to look more and more possible.

From what I have noticed so far is that everytime that there is a so called "crisis" of sorts the gas ALWAYS goes up. However, The gas never goes back down much once the "crisis" has been resolved. The gas prices just has stick it to you written all over them.

They said right now (today) ... Paying for gas makes for 10% of the average American family's budget per week.

IS OPEC really in charge? We are controlling occuping one of the biggest oil nations Iraq. We saved Kuwait. We defended Saudi Arabia. We Inv... er liberated Afganistan and installed that huge natural gas pipeline to feed ports we control. Looks like we either have a hand in or have beholding to us the major oil producers on the planet.

Depending on what station you go to here it's anywhere from $3.65 to $3.79.
