Another music thread --- when did bands stop using "the" in their names ?

Not counting individual artists like Frankie Avalon, or artist with band name like Bill Hailey and his Comets.

Also, not counting band that used "the" and then stopped - like Pink Floyd or Jefferson Starship.

Name some early bands that did not use "the" in their name.

It's been like that for a while. In fact the rock rivival of the early 200's every band had that (The Strokes,The Hives,The Sounds, etc) to sound more retro. Also when everybody and their brother has a band and copyrights the name then bands have to get more creative with the name. Is there a band called The Dust or The Stereotypes I wouldn't doubt it.

REM and U2 are the oldest ones that come to mind.

Black Sabbath, Kiss and Alice Cooper.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

            Strawberry Alarm Clock 1967 ?

edited because my above answer is wrong ... they did use "The" on their albums.

            Led Zeppelin ?

Grey Eye Glances (previously known as Sojourner), Hem, October Project, Over the Rhine (the "the" doesn't count since it's in "the" middle) and Cowboy Junkies are all bands lacking a "The" prior to their band name...

It drives me crazy when bands go by both. I get all OCD when I import albums into iTunes and band names come up as (for example) The Pixies or Pixies depending on the album. I always fix it.

Captan Beefheart and HIS Magic Band or THE Magic Band also drives me nuts.
