I heard Courtney Barnett for my first time yesterday, thought she was new but then noticed she was the musical guest on SNL last night so I guess I'm not setting any trends. I like her stuff a lot.

    Black Keys.
    Paolo Nutini.
Prima Nocta and Fifty Foot Combo (both Belgian bands).
Imelda May and Caro Emerald (though their music is mostly retro).

There's still decent music out there, but I feel you have to look a little harder than in the old days. They may not top the charts, but still great music.

Guess I'm more of a mainstream person when it comes to new music. Right now on my playlist is stuff like:

    Switchfoot.
    Yellowcard.
    Blue October.
    Naked and Famous.
    Grouplove.
    Sia.
    Tom Day.
    When In Rome.
    Mattafix.
    Sounds Under Radio.
    Pegboard Nerds.
    Parachute Youth.
    In-Flight Safety.

    And a few others,and of course the usual 80's and 90's stuff,lol!

    J-R!

All Sabbath fans should check out Crosss - https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=1NtDQ7Dt9wA

4NDR10D mentioned Wooden Shjips, the first time I saw Crosss was opening for the related band Moon Duo (also great). It was a fantasticly, sludgy, stonery night!

i don't think they were i think that was just me lumping them in with them because they were around at the same time doing similar stuff.

    I know that syndrome well.

I don't think Gabriel works as well for proof of my lame tastes, because I think he holds up a lot better. I don't think he's "cool", but I still think "Security" is a great album. Some of the production and the world music influences sound dated, but it's still a dark and interesting pop album. I think I still have my cassette copy of the german version someplace.
