How close is the nearest casino to you ?

Seems like casinos are everywhere nowadays.

Closest one to me is like 10 miles away ... Thank God I have no interest in gambling whatsoever

We've now got slots five minutes away, i've never been. I get PO'd when I get behind one of those lottery ticket addicts at the variety store, so i'm not their target demographic.

Closest to me is about 20 minutes away in Niagara Falls. I think I've been there twice since it opened around 20 years ago, I have zero interest. I may have a vice or two (don't we all), but gambling certainly isn't one of them.

Heh, I'm the same way when I'm waiting in line to buy something important (like beer) and someone in front of me is buying a bunch of tickets.

I used to hit up Fallsview, Brantford and the slots in Woodstock. Loved playing Sic Bo in Brantford, cool dice game and honest to god hit for a $1000 twice on the same slot machine within a month. Damm I miss the cool casino days!

We have one in west/central Columbus, so it's about 20 minutes away. Never been there. I'm buying a few Powerball tix until someone wins the big jackpot and I played the slots in the Vegas airport last summer, but I tend not to gamble for entertainment. Watching my 401k go up & down has been enough excitement since 2007. Actually, it has been way too exciting over the last month or two.

Rivers Casino near O'Hare airport is the closest for me. About 9 miles from my door. I have no desire to gamble, unless it's playing poker with my friends (which is more about being with my friends than it is winning money).

Went to the Casino once with a couple of buddies. After about 20 minutes, I was bored to tears and spent the rest of the time people watching. Tons of ******s. Tons of weirdos. Tons of people who looked like they couldn't afford to be there losing their social security checks. Doubt I'll go back, as there are about 1,000,000 other ways I'd prefer to spend my money.

Oof, I know this is probably baggage from my "Dante Hicks" days in the 80s but they always seem miserable and never say "please" or "thank you" to the clerk. Drives me batty.

I get really upset when I am in a line that mixes lotto tickets with anything I deem important. I've got undersized underwear to return damn it!

I live in the same area as Duncan; I have yet to visit. It's no fun if I don't get on a plane and fly to Vegas.

I'm always to be holding a bag of ice and "Sour cream and Onion Rings" so it should be glaringly obvious I'm an important man with things to do.

About a year ago I went to the Sands Casino in the old Bethlehem Steel factory as part of a bachelor party and I couldn't help but notice how many people were just loitering around not playing.

Still scratching my head what they were doing there.

Does this happen in other casinos ?

I went to tunica, MS once. It's about three hours from my area. I went to play golf and see Jim Gaffigan!! It was great. I don't really care for gambling even though I turned $20 into $300 on a slot machine. My wife couldn't believe I walked. Paid for my whole trip. That was all I was going to spend. I the retired to my room with a Coke and some exquisite Gummi Bears. While I enjoyed the show and golf the next day, I couldn't help but notice the sad vacant stares of people who I can only assume, spent all their money. There were some pitiful people there. I didn't like that vibe one bit.

Yikes. Not what our governor wants to hear. Actually, I find the whole "Hollywood" brand kind of insulting. I live in Ohio. Why should I care about Hollywood? "Come to the place where you're the star, and you call the shots." or whatever the commercial says. They're selling an image to insecure people.

On the positive side, I will give Ohio's casinos credit for one thing. People can have themselves put on a no entry list, and the casinos will keep them out. Problem gamblers just need to have enough strength to get on the list, and a major temptation is taken away. I respect that.
