About a year ago I went to the Sands Casino in the old Bethlehem Steel factory as part of a bachelor party and I couldn't help but notice how many people were just loitering around not playing.
Still scratching my head what they were doing there.
Does this happen in other casinos ?
My guess is that they're waiting for a certain machine. I've seen it at a couple of casinos myself. As to going to one,I haven't been in quite a few years. Use to go to Biloxi quite a bit but that before Hurricane Katrina.
I have to admit I am an avid poker player. Hollywood Casino in Grantville is 25 minutes away from me. However, I prefer to play at Maryland Live in Baltimore, which is about 1 hour 50 minutes away or Parx in Philly - 1.5 hours. I have played at the Sands in Bethlehem too, Mikey. I like Texas Hold 'em but prefer pot limit Omaha. I was playing 2 or 3 times a week, but have settled down to once a week now. I don't really consider poker gambling (it's on ESPN, so it must be a sport!). When you play poker in a casino, you are not playing against the casino as you do in the other table games. You are playing against the other players at the table. The casino table games rules are setup up so the odds are against you. That's how the casinos make money. With poker, your odds are the same as every other person at the table. And unlike the other table games, you get to see your cards before you have to bet in poker (unless you are a blind). If you don't want to play your cards, you fold. It doesn't cost you anything. I love to play for many reasons. It's mentally stimulating trying to figure out what cards the other person has by the way they are betting and what cards are on the table. I have made quite a few very good friends from the various poker rooms as well. And I do well in the long run. I win some days and lose other days but always come out ahead at the end of the month.
I'm in Philly. There's one downtown, two on the outskirts of town, and one 45 minutes away as was already noted in Bethlehem. Oh yeah, then there's the 7 or so in Atlantic City which is about an hour away.
I go once in a while. I loose $50 or so on whatever, lick my wounds and go to a show of some kind. I'm always amazed by the number of retirees and trailer park types in those places. I go looking for the people in tuxedos and low cut dresses and James Bond, and instead I see Fred and Ethel gambling away their retirement money.

Did you ever go to the one in Charlestown WV ?
Went there like 10-ish years ago and they really dolled it up since it was just a racetrack back in the day

No, I had heard quite a bit about it and that there was massive action in the poker room. However, it was mostly players with lots of money from Baltimore and DC that were driving the action and they lost most of those players to Maryland Live when it opened.
That makes 3 of us in the Columbus area who have yet to go to our much advertised casino.
Make that four. Five, if you count my partner. Just never had any interest. I might go to see a show there if someone I liked was performing, but I have honestly never even checked to see what kind of acts they get.
I do, however, go to all of the Columbus toy shows! LOL!!
I'm 1 hour from the largest grossing casino in the world. Fox woods Casino in CT. Not sure if that held in 2015, as I don't believe the numbers have been released yet. In the old poker days I would go regularly when the local games were slow. Now I probably hit there between 4 and 6 times annually. Usually when I'm offered entertainment tickets that I want. December always gets 2 visits as I never miss Brian Setzers Christmas Show or Lisa Lampinelli. It's worse when Hall and Oates were doing their Christmas shows because it meant I was there every weekend prior to Christmas. We currently have 3 smaller ones that are closer to me than this one but I rarely go to any of them. There's also another major one, also in CT, called Mohegan Sun. Good sized hotel and casino but I prefer Foxwoods. There are possibilities we will be seeing 2 more in Massachusetts in the next few years. One is way west near NY and the other may be less than 15 minutes away. Southern NH is also proposing one on the old Suffolk Downs horse racing track. If those go through I'll have at least 8 within roughly a 90 minute span.

Don't forget Twin Rivers casino in Rhode Island, it's no Foxwoods not even close, but still worth a night out,
don't hold your breath on casinos coming to Taxachusetts, Wynn tried to get one hear and it was denied, and I
don't think the crooks running the Mass state lottery are anxious to have any competition, they already soak you
in taxes from lottery winnings, basically this states a joke.
