    RIP: Mr Rumbold

I am shocked that Nicholas Smith aka Mr Rumbold from "Are you being served" was so damned young during the filming of the series! I would have placed him in his late 50s!

And I think that means that the whole cast is gone... :-(

How sad. He was my favorite character on the show.

I believe Mr. Spooner and maybe some of the nurses are the only ones from this great show that are still with us.

This depresses the f--- out of me. I think about the cast and show frequently. I started watching it when I was young enough that most of the humor went right over my head, and I still loved it. RIP.

Oof, I never realized that, some of them went pretty young. Hard to believe Captain Peacock and Mr Rumbold would outlive the majority of them.

Outrageously funny stuff! I used to watch it on late night cable TV, channel 21 here in NYC. I can't believe that they got away with all of the innuendos and double entendres the way that they did.

I have the complete series on dvd and the made for TV movie, I always wanted to do customs of these but just
never got around to it. Bummer about Nicholas Smith, I enjoyed his character as I did for all, my favorite of course
was Mr. Humphries, RIP Mr. Smith.

Meeenswear...they'll ride up with wear...Mr. Akbar!!...I don't half fancy you...Are you free? So many catchphrases! lol

How sad. I hadn't realized Mollie Sugden had passed, too. What silly fun that show was.

I recall seeing Smith on a Peel (?) episode of The Avengers, too.

Whoa, I didn't know he was that young when he was on the show. Sad to hear that practically everyone is gone now, I always enjoyed watching this show.

Great show; probably before its time. Mr. Rumbold took more than his share of abuse. RIP, and thanks for the laughs.
