Speaking of 30 Rock, you see Kimmy Schmidt yet? I thought we discussed it, but I'm senile and can't remember what you said now.

Really liked the Tracy Morgan episode a lot. While not every sketch was a home run, there weren't any strikeouts that I could see. The video short with Tracy and Taran was a lot of fun to watch, surprisingly well-written, and a good kind of weird.

Bummed that my DVR started recording late, so I missed the last 1.5 sketches. Oh well, I'll catch them soon enough.

Heh, glad to see I'm not the only one with memory issues. Yeah man, we were talking about Kimmy Schmidt when we were at the Beguiling last week, remember? (great store BTW!) I loved the show, I can't believe that NBC passed on it, considering the crap that they do air. But in the long run, it was better that Netflix got it, so that the episodes could be longer. Can't wait for season two next spring!

Count me in as a Kimmy Schmidt fan, that may have been my fastest binge watch ever.

That's right! Ugh, my brain is THE WORST.

I think NBC was afraid of getting stuck with another critical hit they couldn't bank on, but also couldn't get rid of - like 30 Rock or Community. I think they only want simple multi-cam sitcoms with laugh tracks now.

You're probably right. Netflix is so friggin' awesome, and them picking up this show is just one reason why. They've just been nailing it with their original programming.

The only SNL bit of the last 10 years that made me laugh and was entertaining.

Put the Amy Schumer epsiode on last Saturday, the monologue was solid but the opening sketches were really weak. I made it to the news and that put me to bed.

I'm beginning to think SNL is sort of like music, eventually you stop listening to new music and think the music of your era is better.

                        Very good analogy.

Could also be comedy in general.

The other day they were running The Marx Brothers Duck Soup on TV ... i'd never seen it.

It left me wondering why does everybody think this movie is so funny ?

Personally I thought it was corny.

I don't know if I'd go that far but I will say humour is very subjective and personal.

My wife laughs at stuff I find lame and most of the "Tim and Eric" type stuff evades me but I'm not a woman nor am I in my twenties....

Last night's Trump episode was another dud.

I'm not a Trump fan but I thought the episode might be fun after all the hoopla.

It's like they're not even trying to be entertaining.

Most of their sketches and gags seem like they were written by stoned middle school kids --- a lot of incoherency and just unfunny rambling stuff.

If they can't put together one good episode knowing they're going to have an extra huge audience watching, I don't think i'll get myself hyped up for an episode again...

BTW, what's with their musical guests ?

Do they just find these people off the street and not even have them audition ?

I wouldn't give last night's guest the time of day.

Yeah, the Trump episode was about as bad as they come. Toothless. Unfunny. Useless.

I don't have high hopes for the Elizabeth Banks one next week, either. I like her fine, in small doses, but I'm not sure how she'll fare as a centerpiece.
