Oh, I can cut the chord...the problem are the women in the household, lol. But my sis is slowly leaning towards that.

Today, we finally got Comcast to change the agreement from two year contract to no contract...just month to month. We got it in writing. Finally after my sis blasted them, lol.

With this, we are not enslaved to them anymore...will be paying a tad more, no more special two year contract discount...but this way...we can take our time...and slowly phase out cable.

Thanks, T, for the info, I'm going with your route eventually, slowly but surely.

    Much appreciated...

I still think that once you get all the issues worked out, you will be happy with X1.
It is just that getting those issues worked out is a b--... because you still have to deal with crappy Comcast support.
          Hang in there!

Well, my monthly bill will now be $260 a month. Before the X1 package, the bill was $295.

The actual X1 is indeed nice, but pricey (we do have the Triple Play Premiere package). I'll keep the X1 for a couple of months...until I get all the Roku goodies together. We also want HD antennas.

The only issue would be cable internet, it's really fast...my favorite part of Comcast.

Trying to see if there are any other decent options out there, although I know none will be as fast as Comcast's. There also the landline phone service...my sis uses it for international calls.

T, how much is the Brighthouse service? And how fast is it compared to cable?

I'm digging the new Roku 4 bad boy coming at the end of October...wow...I have my eyes iset on that one...

The Roku 4 is the most capable Roku yet, with access to more 4K movies and TV shows than any device, a faster processor and even a remote finder. It beats any other 4K video player you can buy today, but is that enough?

But I think the Roku 3 will be a safer choice now...the newest models always have kinks here and there...

Roku provides the simplest way to stream entertainment to your TV. On your terms. With thousands of available channels to choose from.

its fast enough that we can both watch something different at the same time with no problems. Not sure what its supposed to be. The throttled back one time with Netflix, but I guess they got over losing customers in the tv part.

Charter is buying Brighthouse, and is working on a deal to buy Time Warner cable right now too.
