Been wanting a Tivo for quite a while, and some of what is stated above is correct about the older models. The Roamio Tivo actually you can get 6 tuner models, they can talk with their Tivo Minis and you can watch whatever you want in each room, including recorded stuff. Also they can stream outside of your home your content.

You can either pay monthly for Tivo service or pay a one time fee for lifetime service.

We connected our two TVs ourselves. Comcast sent the whole kit and kaboodle to us, and it was actually pretty easy. Maybe we already had the filter that was required.

The equipment has been reserved for me. I pick it up tomorrow at my local Xfinity location. All new too, no returned stuff.

I thought they only ship them, but apparently they told me I can get it in person, as a few are in stock, just a few though, they told me they go quick, yeah...

...oh...I was told that my household does not need that filter on the outside junction box...as my next door neighbors don't have the X1. In the near future, if they decide to get the X1, they will need that filter...as I'll be the neighbor with an existing X1 setup. So I beat them to it, lol...

Nothing but horror coming from Comcast...sorry to say.

We installed the X1, and two additional boxes.

Had trouble pairing the remotes. Called tech, he showed up in three days. He was an hour late, despite his two hour window. Turned out, we did need that filter adapter installed. Okay, most issues settled. However, he somehow messed up our internet connection...to make a long story short...he was here an additional three hours fixing our internet connection. Finally done. Before he left, we rechecked everything again, and noticed one of the additional boxes would not rewind or forward during live telecast. So I requested a swap, he did, still not working, I asked for another one (his van was full of them), he said, "sorry, Im only allowed to exchange once". I'm like, really? So he leaves.

Now it gets worse, much worse...

We had initially gotten a two year agreement. But seeing how the equipment been acting, and some of the service calls have been very frustrating...we decided to void the two year agreement. Keep in mind, we had just agreed a few days earlier, and you have one month to cancel the agreement. Well, now we only want no contract, just go month by month...and they are actually ignoring our requests. This has been going on for three to four days, multiple calls, we are getting nothing but lies and lies. Promises to call us back, nothing. They even got testy. Well, my sister and had about enough...we do like the X1...but we are not going to be bullied by this evil company anymore. Just now, we gave them one final ultimatum, have the two year agreement change to monthly no contract, fix that third unit...all that by Saturday. We want that all in writing by email as requested. If none of that happens, my sister and I are disconnecting everything from Comcast...and return everything at the local Xfinity store...and be done with them forever...and ever.

I can't believe they treat 30 year faithful customers like that, unbelievable.

                      How does Roku works?

What specific unit? Do they charge a monthly fee like TiVo?

Does each TV require a unit or does it connect to all household TVs?

Do you use an antenna for free HD shows?

Are the units landline or wireless?

What company you use for your internet?

                      Any info would help, thanks...

The additional boxes don't fast forward, pause, or rewind live TV. Only your recorded or OnDemand programs.

Not in our case...one of the additional boxes does pause, rewind and fast forward during live telecasts...and obviously, so does the main X1. But as of now...that's the LEAST of our concerns...

I use Brighthouse for internet, the Roku has no monthly fees except for what you want to pay for, like Netflix or Amazon, its wifi, hooks up to the HDMI plug in. I think you have to get a unit for each tv, 39 bucks at Wallyworld. I can get no antenna shows since the MCDonald's opened a block away, I think the wireless drive thru is messing me up. The over the air stuff is up to you right now, I hear Roku is working on local stations tho. The free channels do have commercials, but its ok if its free right? All I pay out of pocket is for Hulu and Netflix, so 15 or so a month. I have a Roku 2 right now. Cut the Cord Hector!!!
