I do have two sets of first issue coins from when Britain moved to decimalisation
in 1971...the year I was born.

I don't quite understand the coins of pre-decimalisation.

    Coins like:

    a farthing
    a halfpenny (hay-p'ny)
    three farthings

    a half-groat (2d)
    a threepenny bit
    a groat
    a two shilling piece
    a half-crown
    ten shillings (a half-sovereign)
    a half-guinea

    But I like their Names.

I only know of 2 of them ........

I think Scrooge gave the turkey kid "a half a crown"

      Also, the hay penny..

There's a Ha' Penny bridge in Dublin.
I believe it used to cost that amount to cross.

I wonder why the $2 bill has never caught on.

Even things priced at $.99 are usually $1 and change once you add tax to it.

I don't think the 2 was ever ment to catch on.

It was just a '76 bicentennial promo for mostly collectors.
