Things to do in San Francisco

what are your recommendations for fun things to do? I've been there a few times prior, generally have seen the usual tourist attractions... Fisherman's Warf, Golden Gate Bridge, Chinatown, Alcatraz, the windy road, the trolley etc.

On my list to revisit is the Cartoon Art Museum
Highlights at the Cartoon Art Museum of recommended exhibits, events and more!

a return visit to the Super 7 store

Pez Museum looks neat? Other vintage toys as well?

Disney Family Museum is on my list of places I haven't been.
The Walt Disney Family Museum is an American museum that features the life and legacy of Walt Disney. The museum is located in The Presidio of San Francisco, part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area in San Francisco.

is it worth the hour and a half drive to see the Charles Schulz Museum? What else is there to do in that area... at first I thought I could do Napa Valley the same day, but it doesn't seem too accessible via Google Maps.
Official website of the Charles M. Schulz Museum and Research Center located in Santa Rosa, California.

    Playland Not-at-the-Beach worth checking out?

Where are the best place for vintage and collectible toys?
What are the best comic shops these days in the Bay Area?
My store in the MEGO MALL!

Go across the Bay Bridge to Emeryville...and hit an awesome little Japanese toy store called Kimono My House...

Specialties: Japanese ANIME, TOKUSATSU, FANTASY and SCI FI. Toys, model kits, posters, t shirts and so much more! From Astroboy, Ultraman, Godzilla, Power Rangers and other Sentai series, to Pokemon, Sailor Moon, Kamen Rider, Miyazki/Studio Ghibli, Dragonball, Transformers, Gamera... We have a huge selection of goods from the vintage classics and more recent ones too! Please come check our store and blow your mind. Also, please call to check; our hours change and sometimes we are open on off days! Established in 1980. Kimono My House was the first store in the U.S. dedicated to the sale of all things Anime and Sci Fi Japanese live action merchandise. We were also the first to get licensing to produce merchandise for the U.S. Market for AKIRA and other characters. You can still find a wondrous assortment of hard to find items from the past. Kimono My House specializes in toys from the 70's, 80's an 90's and the early to late 2000's. We get new stuff once a month, still we stock goods mostly from these periods.

They sell on eBay too...but it's much more fun to physically browse there.

It's really small, but it's kinda of a little institution here.

Kimono My House used to be located almost right next to Pixar Studios, but it moved to a slightly different location, still in Emeryville. Speaking of Pixar, there are occasional tours, but it would have to be planned in advance...or know someone...I personally have never been inside its premises...

Also, you can visit one of Oakland's very cool landmarks, Fentons Creamery in Piedmont Avenue. Pixar's Up showcases Fentons on its movie. It's the Bay Area's oldest ice cream shop, it's always packed and happening...and awesome ice cream and other goodies...

Heroes Club/Art of Toys in San Francisco is another Japanese toy store...it has a small display only collection too...

Portfolio of fine art collectibles painted and customized by Robin Kwok founder of Heroes Club/ Art Of Toys and online store

And if you go to Fentons Creamery...on that same street, there's a cool comic book shop called Dr Comics and Games...

Since 1988 we've been serving the North Oakland community weekly doses of comic books and board...

Berkeley was the hub of comic book stores here in the Bay Area...but sadly...a ton of them have closed down over the years.

If you are a meat eater...you gotta go to the House of Prime Rib...a carnivore's delight, lol...

The House of Prime Rib serves well-marbled Prime Rib in the English Tradition. Our Prime Rib is carved at your table, to your specifications, from our unique stainless steel serving cart. We serve only the best beef available, the top 2% of all beef marked. THe House of Prime Rib is a San Francisco Landmark. Our juicy and delicious Prime Rib is made from the highest quality mid-western corn-fed beef available, then aged for 21 days.

        Make reservations though.

If you dig Mexican food, especially tacos and burritos, La Taqueria and el Farolito on Mission St are excellent cheap taquerias...can't go wrong with either...

Gary Larson's original Far Side work has been displayed in San Francisco's Legion of Honor museum countless times through the years...but I don't know what's the status of that nowadays.

The Oakland Hills offer the best planetarium in the Bay Area...if you or your kid/kids (if you have any) dig cool space related stuff...that's the place to go...

Specialties: The mission of Chabot Space & Science Center is to be a place for students of all ages to learn and be inspired about the Universe and our Planet Earth. Established in 1883. Founded as an observatory in 1883, today Chabot offers visitors the very latest in hands-on, interactive exhibits, displays, and Planetarium shows that explore the mysteries of the universe and of life here on earth. Here visitors of all ages can experience for themselves the wonders of the cosmos as they gaze through the telescopes at distant stars and planets.

Monterey Aquarium is awesome, but it's a two hour drive south of San Francisco...

San Francisco has its own aquarium, the Steinhart Aquarium in Golden Gate Park...but nowhere near as awesome as the Monterey Aquarium...

Come face-to-fin with nearly 60,000 animals from 800+ species—many of which are displayed nowhere else on Earth.

Lots of whale watching tours here too...from January through April to see hundreds of gray whales migrating past Point Reyes in Marin County as they make their way from the arctic to Baja. Humpback whales also might be seen moving in pods of seven or 10 from November through March. The rest of the year -- summer and fall -- you can visit the Farallon Islands, where humpbacks, blue whales, sperm whales and orcas feed...

I'm not a big baseball fan, but if I have to root for a team around here, that would be the Oakland A's. But the Coliseum is not the park to go...that would be the San Francisco's Giants AT&T Park...it's beautiful...

If you like animals and zoos...skip San Francisco's...the smaller but nicer Oakland Zoo is much better...

Specialties: The Zoo is home to over 850 native and exotic animals. We're recognized for our outstanding animal care, particularly our elephant care program, and for our Leed-certified, 17,000 square foot, state-of-the-art veterinary hospital--the largest wild animal veterinary facility in Northern California. In 2018 Oakland Zoo introduced guests to an entirely new experience, California Trail, a monumental expansion furthering our commitment to animal care, education, and conservation with a focus on this state's remarkable native wildlife--both past and present. Established in 1922. Oakland Zoo was established in 1922 and is managed by the Conservation Society of California, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to the conservation of wildlife both locally and globally. The Zoo is home to over 700 native and exotic animals. We're recognized for our outstanding animal care, particularly our elephant care program, and for our Leed-certified, 17,000 square foot, state-of-the-art veterinary hospital--the largest wild animal veterinary facility in Northern California.

I just threw the zoo idea out there because I'm getting sleepy...you got a zoo of your own...I don't think visiting a zoo would be on your agenda...

That Pez Museum in Burlingame looks pretty awesome...I didn't even know it existed until you posted it, lol.

Burlingame is about 10-15 minute drive south of San Francisco.

Charles Shultz Museum...you asked what else is in Santa Rosa, well...the only thing that pops in my mind is a safari park...

The mission of Safari West is to promote conservation by providing a unique recreational educational experience including information about propagation

Never been to either...but that safari park has better reviews than either the San Francisco and Oakland zoos...as it looks like this one is similar to San Diego's Wildlife Park...much more involved and interactive.

I always thought the Oakland Bay Bridge is way more neat than the Golden Gate.

OBB has that neat pillar in between two suspension bridges - very unique and quite pretty
