Yeah, so you have to buy the venue's $10 hot dogs and $12 beers instead...

I remember sneaking a camera into a Metallica concert back in 1988. I was so nervous and tried to clandestinely sneak photos when it looked like the coast was clear. Once I finally got them developed, they all looked like crap, what a waste of time, I should have just relaxed and enjoyed the concert instead.

The last few bands that I saw live were Neds Atomic Dustbin (local boys), Nine Inch Nails, The Prodigy and Pop Will Eat Itself. Always bootleg stuff readily available back then.

Contrast that with Mr. Billy Idol in the following video (at the 20 second mark he sees the fan is recording and actually sings to them for several seconds):

I actually found it pretty helpful to watch some concert video before buying tix. I was on the fence last year about seeing Fleetwood Mac, but after listening to a few songs from the tour I decided to pass because the vocals just weren't there. On the other hand, I did see The Who after hearing that Daultry still had it.

I'm going to see Motley Crue for the 32nd time on Aug 30th.. Best concert band i have ever seen. Motley is a concert and a show at the same time. And loud as can be. Only band i have seen that was louder was ACDC.

You'll laugh, but I went to a Weird Al Yankovic in late June and it was one of the better concerts I've been to, and I've been to a lot. He's quite the showman, honestly. No issue with video or pictures at it either. My daughter has video of him right in front of her during a part when he came out into the audience.

He does both of his Star Wars numbers of course and it's quite over the top.

A couple of weeks before that I got to see Night Ranger is a fairly small venue, and they were pretty good.
