Just been rewatching Avengers for the first time since I was a kid . Like Hector, the Diana Rigg version is one of my all time favorites. R.I.P. Mr. McNee.

I will always remember Patrick in "The Howling." He had such a memorable role! Without a doubt, one of the greatest werewolf films ever made! He was great in it!

He even played a character that was a nod to his Avengers character in a Hardy Boys 3 season ep "Assault on the Tower". RIP Patrick.

I had just picked up a set of The Avengers DVDs (all the Diana Rigg episodes...). And yes, the opening and closing credits music is so super cool and classy... One of the best themes I've ever heard...

You are in for a treat. Especially Diana Rigg's second season is Avengers at its best. Many classic stories, like "Winged Avenger", "Return of the Cybernauts"...

My "Steed" image has been my online avatard on various forums for several years.

RIP Mr MacNee, and thank you.

                Edit: You dear man.

Another fine actor passes. I'll always remember him best as the intro voice of every episode of Battlestar Galactica, and for his role as Count Iblis and the voice of Imperious Leader, the doctor in The Howling, and of course as John Steed. RIP.

My favorite episode was where he was rushing to help his partner who was fighting in the lighthouse with the telescope that transmitted sound and at the end they are sitting next to the car and he opens the hood to reveal hotplate on the engine cooking steaks. THAT was a cool upgrade. There was the story that a Touch of Brimstone was never aired on network TV here, but every year the ABC execs would pull it out and watch it at their annual meeting.

It was also fun seeing him in a Bond with Roger Moore, View to a Kill I think.

                    CCC.

One of my favorites, his characters were always the master of any situation they found themselves in....I think the recent movie with Colin Frith was trying to capture some of that, but didn't succeed. There's been a lot of loss in the past weeks.

Huge Avengers fan. I saw every Emma Peel episode last summer and 3 Tara King ones. Those are a little harder to find. A true English Gentleman he will be missed.

One of the news sites has a picture of him with Dick Van Dyke. The way they have it with the picture, you'd think Dick was the one who passed, not Mr.Macnee. Kind of hate when they do that.
