    Happy Dance!!!! Happy Dance!!!!

Stopped today and bought a $1 scratch off ticket and won $20. I don't play them too much, just every once in a while. I was about to cash it in and I said screw it, give me two of the $10 scratch offs (I never play those). First ticket was a loser, second ticket........

    $500

I told my wife we each get $250 to spend as we please!!!!

That's funny....we don't do the lotto/scratch off thing but every once in a while my wife will buy a scratch off ticket just for fun.

As I started my speech about how the lottery in general is a bad bet from a statistical standpoint (i.e. I think the megamillions odds are 1:143,000,000 that the cash payout after taxes should be $143,000,000 before the payoff is worth the bet) and said scratchoffs are even worse.

In the middle of my monologue, she won $20 off 1 ticket and I quickly shut my mouth...

Did you have to fill out a tax form before they handed you the cash? I know there is a $ amount but can't remember what it is now.

I forgot to add that I bet you'll parlee your $250 winnings into some estate sale finds and turn it into a couple thousand....

No, you can win up to $500 and cash it in at a store. Anything over that must be brought to the lottery office. The store where I bought it at didn't have the money to pay me, so I need to find another retailer.

I have not done well with my finding/selling since the Anri last fall and the GI Joes last summer. Now granted, I have not done much estate shopping since then, just a couple.

I went to one today, they had four vintage barbies, but they had $150 each on them (priced right off of Ebay). I may go back tomorrow and see if I can get them half off.

Congrats that is asweet. Wyoming sucks, we don't even have lottery. The Gov is against it for some reason. In colorado, they use a ton of the lottery profits to preserve open space like parks, and natural areas, it has really worked well. This place can be so freakin backwards, it makes me puke.

From the subject title I thought this was about a new BARNEY THE DINOSAUR vid
at first...congrats on the $500--- that's better than a new BARNEY vid release any day---

Believe me, you're probably better off without it. I realize the state uses the money for public services or other things that the tax base can't pay for but the lottery really isn't a good bet. It's one thing to spend a few bucks here and there just for the fun of it but there is a real downside to it.

Back when I was in college, I worked in a Beer and Wine store that also sold lottery tickets. I got to know many of the regulars on a first time basis and a high proportion of them had jobs that did not pay well....janitors, hotel maids, etc. but they would walk in on payday and some would purchase $100 or more worth of lottery tickets hoping to hit the jackpot and they would do it every single payday. Not once, did I see any of them win any kind of serious money...maybe $1,000 tops but what would they do? Take the $1,000 and purchase another 1,000 lottery tickets.

Well, I went to an up-scale "Goodwill" style store and they had just received a large group of old Lesney Matchbox cars. They had them price alittle high but still a good buy. I bought all the mint to near mint ones, costing me $170. So, there is what I treated myself to.

I also got a large bag of plastic "army" men, all made in Hong Kong. There are cowboys & indians, baseball & football players, and aliens. Not sure who made them, but could not beat the price for 99 cents for the bag.
