Sir Christopher Lee has passed away.

The legendary Sir Christopher Lee has passed away at the age of 93.
A true icon has left us. RIP.

    Memorable quotes:

On the industry:"There are many vampires in the world today - you only have to think of the film business"
On fame:"In Britain, any degree of success is met with envy and resentment."
On James Bond:"Pierce Brosnan was by far the best and closest to the character." (Lee was Ian Fleming's cousin).
On Hammer Horror:"They gave me this great opportunity, made me a well-known face all over the world for which I am profoundly grateful."
On his craft:"I think acting is a mixture of instinct, imagination and inventiveness. All you can learn as an actor is basic technique."
On Peter Cushing:"He really was the most gentle and generous of men. I have often said he died because he was too good for this world."
On the wider world:"There is decline in morals, ideals, manners, respect, truthfulness: just about everything, in fact."

On his Special Forces activity during WW2:

“I was attached to the SAS from time to time but we are forbidden – former, present, future – to discuss any specific operations. Let’s just say I was in Special Forces and leave it at that.”

Just got the press release on my cell. So very sad. A true legend by every measure. But what a joy he was able to see a resurgence in his career late in life. One of the true greats is lost. RIP Mr. lee.

We knew it was coming, but it's still a blow.
The last of the Greats, now there are none.

What an amazing man, so talented in so many things. I read his biography years ago, it's a fascinating read.

Such a big part of our cultural landscape. So omnipresent it's hard to believe he would ever leave. 93 years was a great run. I hoped he enjoyed being part of our lives as much as we enjoyed having him in them.

Great until the end. He made LOTR and Star Wars palatable when the melodrama was overbearing. And he will always be the man who made Dracula intimidating. A sixty year career. You cannot ask for anything more. Bravo.

His life off-camera is just as exciting.

From interviews I could tell that Lee was very smart and found him very interesting to listen to. He seems to have had a very good life and career. I'm glad he did LOTR and the prequels because thats pretty much when I re-discovered him having only seen a few hammer films in my youth.

He has to be the most prolific if not the greatest big screen villain of them all. He brought gravity to every role I ever saw him in.

One of the greatest actors of the genre and a living legend. May he be reunited with his dear friend Peter Cushing.

                          RIP

My god, I'm really crushed by this news, I feel like I've grown up with this man and his movies. Some of us were just talking about him this past weekend at the Mego Meet too. I'm really sad right now...
