I don't believe the "man" in this case is a transexual, since she didn't have the re-assignment surgery. She is essentially a female transvestite living as a male.

I am not bothered by that persons choice, I have no problem with that. I am only bothered by the way the media eats it up and presents it. By "IT" I mean the story, not the pregnant woman who wants to be a dude, when she isn't busy being pregnant.

Hoping my post did not offend. I, too have friends within the GLBT "community" (whatever "community" means!). I grew up in SE Oklahoma, so I never saw much diversity until I went to college. Some things take a little getting used to. Comparing "unusual" people to superheroes may seem as if I'm simply making fun, but like most of us here, I like superheroes a great deal. Humor can sometimes soften a shock and help lead to acceptance.

I have to admit, I find a pregnant guy unusual.

I'm fine, and yes, it's a little unusual, and there's plenty of room to laugh.

I just think when people start calling other people "it" ...some thinking is required.

Not to change the subject but did you read about the lungless frog they discovered being a species and not "a freak of nature?"

I guess you would call something like this just normal

Do I think it's ok for him/her to have a child? Who am I to say no? It's still an odd situation, and only possible in today's world.

However, if she was a woman and now is a man...stay a man...reverting to maternal instincts tells me this person is still not sure of his sexuality..."he" still seems pretty confused to me.

The child is the one who's going to face a lot of teasing from other kids, that's for sure...kids can be very cruel to each other, it's in their nature.

                          What he said.

I’ve meet quite a few GLBT people through out my years of toy collecting. When you collect dolls and toys as long as I have, it’s hard not to. The majority are like everyone else, normal everyday people just trying to live their lives. Heck, most of the gay collectors I met collected stuff like SW action figures and Marvel Legends and never could understand why I collected dolls.

Anyhoo, It would have been nice if the media had not gone the Jerry Springer route when reporting this with the near constant bombardment of deceptive “Pregnant Man!” headlines all over the place.

I certainly don’t begrudge the couple to wanting to start a family. I just think ideally it would have be better had they been more private and less sensational about it, like getting patted by Oprah on her TV show. I think the whole situation is unfortunately going to generate more hate and prejudice towards an already maligned and misunderstood minority of people. What might even be more unfair about the whole thing is the person probably isn’t even actually a Transsexual.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

yes kids can be cruel. They tease for all sorts of reasons and this may be one too. If that is the only reason for thinking they shouldn't do it then it's a poor one. I remember kids used to tease other kids so badly over wearing skippy's(which were cheap sneakers). I guess the parents were poor. Still Kids will do this for all sorts of things.

I think the pregnant man title is for sure incorrect and that should not be the way it's being reported on. Cross Dresser or Gender Bender maybe. I don't know for sure and think they would have been better off if they kept this private too but I think I like how megoscott addressed it best and I thank him for it.
