AirDave's point is well made...these guys don't merely disguise themselves
some way--they also have mastered the ability to act as two totally different people.
"No. No no no no no no. You done got me talkin' politics. I didn't wanna'. Like I said y'all, I'm just happy to be alive. I think I'll scoot over here right by this winda', let this beautiful carriage rock me to sleep, and dream about how lucky I am." - Chris Mannix

What was even funnier was Green Arrow in the bronze age. He actually had a secrety identity as Ollie Queen. Now if people can't see that secret identity, that is comical.

Christopher Reeve convinced me people WOULDN'T think Clark and Superman were the same person.

As for Dick/Robin...the only people who would be suspicious would be those who know both Robin and Dick. The conceit works as long as Batman's villains don't interact with Dick (or Bruce really). The one who interacted most with Dick in both of his identities and didn't know the secret was Jim Gordon, and in recent times its been heavily hinted he knows EXACTLY who Batman, Robin, Nightwing, etc. are.

I always took it that Clark's personality - like Peter Parker's - was that he would be almost invisible. You wouldn't pay much attention to somebody like that, so like Luthor, there's no way you could accept or believe that somebody like that could turn around and be Superman.

My favorite part of Superman: The Movie is the scene where Clark shows up for a date with Lois after he took her flying as Superman. Watch him stand up straighter, hear his voice deepen. Look at his eyes; and how he just changes from Clark to Superman.

It's cool to watch Adam West talk to Aunt Harriet and then pick up the red phone in the study. Cheesy cool!

I don't care if he moves his face at super-speed. What's cool is that a secret identity is just that. Bruce Wayne acts a certain way and then physically changes and shifts gears to become Batman. The same with Clark, Diana and Peter. That's cool to see. In comics, in cartoons, on TV, in movies.
You know what? That's the BEST explanation of the secret identities arguement I've ever heard. You are a person who truly gets the point of cartoons and comic book heroes. BRAVO!

I remember a comic story in the 70's where a alien used voice prints to find the identities of Superman, Batman and Robin.

Think B.A. Where did you hide the Megos?

That scene is all one take--no edits. He flies away and then appears at the door in costume as Clark in the time she takes to walk across the apartment...Pretty amazing.

I love the conceit that Batman knows who everyone is.

It's just that kind of information that is going to one day be at my disposal to lead a ragtag group of misfits in saving a tiny small corner of the world (scratch that - instead - making the world a better place)!

If only knowledge like that could get me a high-paying corner office-type job at NASA or somewhere, like say in the federal government...

I know this topic can be fun and funny. Who would ever believe that a guy like Clark Kent is Superman, or a guy like Bruce Wayne is Batman, or that this unmarried millionaire-philanthropist-playboy adopted an orphan from the circus?

Then you have the next wave - A crusading wealthy businessman - Oliver Queen - with that distinctive facial hair - wasn't he a newspaper columnist for awhile, too? - and then this guy in green with similar facial hair...hrmm, doesn't take the world's greatest detective to figure that one out! Of course, I really like the way Smallville handled it with a hood, shades and shadows. You really can't see his face in costume...

Of course, I guess Dick Grayson really defies all the laws of logic and has to be considered a Wonder. Or is that Oneder?

Bruce didn't adopt Dick Grayson until long after he became Nightwing. This too was in the "Prodigal" storyline. Prior to that Dick was a Ward of the State which allowed Bruce to care for the boy because of his social status (big mucho money!)

Never overestimate the public... I wear glasses most of the time. If I wear contacts to work, I will have customers ask for me, to me! It happens a LOT. Glasses/lack of glasses is clearly an effective disguise!
