    Dick Grayson?

Ok, now I kinda can see how batman could keep his identiy secret but Robin? Come on now, are all Gotham citizens idiots? The guy wears a flimsy mask and doesn't even bother to change his hairstyle to confuse people.

So, all Superman did was wear glasses and a suit, maybe hide the spitcurl.

Yes, Gotham has proved to be a group of idiots. In some of the old 1940's comics, Bruce Wayne has been identified as Batman numerous times, but criminals won't believe a lazy playboy would be the Batman. Wouldn't everyone notice that Bruce Wayne has a young ward, and Batman has a young aide? Sheesh. The evidence is as plain as day.

Haha yeah, nothing beats Superman's secret identity flaws. xD Seriously, when does a pair of glasses and the occasional hat throw off the ENTIRE recognition of a person's identity. Metropolis is more stupid than Gotham.

I guess the same could be said for Wonder Woman and Isis. Glasses and hair in a bun or ponytail? COME ON!

And how did Lois Lane earn a Pulitzer when she couldn't figure out that Clark Kent was really Superman? What kind of investigative journalist couldn't see that?

Part of the ongoing continuity in Batman is that he is an "urban legend". Most people in Gotham don't believe he exists and are certainly unaware that there have been more than one Robin. In one of my favorite Batman story arcs "Prodigal" when Dick Grayson becomes Batman after the fallout of Azrael as Batman, it was nice that Commissioner Gordon knew that he was talking to a "different" Batman. He somehow realized that it was in fact the former Robin (although still didn't know his actually identity). It was also a nice touch that Comissioner Gordon got to finally sneak away for once while Batman was speaking.

The Joker has also figured out that there have been more than one Robin. He was quite aware that Nightwing had previously been the "boy wonder" before Nightwing killed him in "The Last Laugh" crossover. Of course the Joker got better, but it really messed up Nightwing for awhile.

Yeah! I mean, her whole life is about getting the biggest scoop, and the biggest scoop is trying to hit on her. How does a reporter miss that?

It's the glasses...in pre-Crisis Bronze Age continuity it was established that the lenses in Clark's glasses were made from the window of his Kryptonian spaceship and emitted some type of Super-Hypnotic rays, inducing the illusion that Clark Kent's features were different from Superman.

In modern continuity, people don't realize that Superman even has a secret identity. When he first was revamped during the Byrne era, he'd blur his facial features at super-speed while performing feats as the Man of Steel. Lex Luthor was actually given information (Superman #2 Vol.2 I believe) that Clark Kent is Superman but didn't buy it because there's no way an alien with that amount of power would pass himself off as a lowly Earth man.

Its common to rag on our imaginary heroes for having flimsy secret identities---
a pop culture "zinger" for years...

However, I can say for myself that changing hairstyles/glassess/masks would
indeed fool me---can't tell ya how many times I haven't recognized someone because
of simillar situations---and when girls change makeup styles or don't wear any at all---
man, its like a different person.

And didn't you guys see that SEINFELD where that girl looked totally different-- and it
had to do with nothing more than the "lighting"? Exaggerated, yes, but like all SEINFELD
stuff, based off real life experience.

I still like to believe in a certain "magic" and "wonder" of comic books. I'd like to believe that a "simple" disguise or a change of appearance is all it takes to fool people.

I always took it that Clark's personality - like Peter Parker's - was that he would be almost invisible. You wouldn't pay much attention to somebody like that, so like Luthor, there's no way you could accept or believe that somebody like that could turn around and be Superman.

My favorite part of Superman: The Movie is the scene where Clark shows up for a date with Lois after he took her flying as Superman. Watch him stand up straighter, hear his voice deepen. Look at his eyes; and how he just changes from Clark to Superman.

It's cool to watch Adam West talk to Aunt Harriet and then pick up the red phone in the study. Cheesy cool!

I don't care if he moves his face at super-speed. What's cool is that a secret identity is just that. Bruce Wayne acts a certain way and then physically changes and shifts gears to become Batman. The same with Clark, Diana and Peter. That's cool to see. In comics, in cartoons, on TV, in movies.
