    Did anyone see VH on Ellen's show last week. They(especially DLR) sounded really bad. Their last studio release didn't exactly do much in sales, either. Just isn't VH without Michael Anthony.

      I assumed this was a joke. I didn't know it was a homegrown one.

          Got the first sentence, there. And if you're saying that presenting Sam's M.O. the way many have perceived it over the decades, presenting that M.O. using the very same M.O. as the presentation method (i.e. underlying bitterness while getting press off of VH), thus utilizing "irony" and "social commentary" instantaneously is "crap"---that's your opinion, of which I'd only be on par with Sam to argue.

          Despite anyone agreeing that Sam once (as Sam said in a 5150 lyric) "walked in Dave's shoes" (to paraphrase) and now thinks he's better suited for the VH singer job, you'd think certain Dave-bashers/Sam-supporters would get the irony, commentary or whatever---but I think they are just too busy "picking sides". I can understand that---that's why, for my contribution to the debate---I thought I'd just repeat what Sam has essentially said over the years, in a parody song. That's funny to me. And I thought it a lot more harmless than telling anyone what I really feel about Sammy's talent.

          But, now I am going to say this one "derogatory" thing:
          I may not have understood the second sentence you wrote, but seeing the word "clever" made me think to myself that, the only clever thing I've ever seen Sammy do was Sammy bilking the Van Halen Bros. by using their franchise to build his own (he can partly thank Dave for that).... but, as far as "rock n' roll creative" cleverness---not a thing I've seen from Sam. Granted, Sam is technically proficient---but so is Pavarotti---that doesn't mean that VH should hire him (if he's even still alive---ha).

          I don't dislike Sam. I just dislike Sam in Van Halen.

          When I'm in the mood for Journey or Foreigner, THEN I'll put on Van Hagar. It's all good.

                I had the chance to see Roth's former guitarist Steve Vai over the summer of 2012, approximately 6 months after "A Different Kind of Truth" came out. During the private meet and greet before the show, someone asked Vai his opinion on the album. His response;

                "I thought it wasreally great how they worked with the old material and gave it this new energy. Ed is playing better than ever and Dave...I'll tell ya, nobody works harder than Dave Roth. He'd hate to know that I told you, but it's true."

                I thought it was a fairly classy response. Even though I like Sammy, classis not a word I would use to describe his present behavior.
                Of all the souls I have encountered his was the most...human.
