Question about your Elementary School

My mom went to a one room schoolhouse in the sticks of north-western NJ.

It still stands today, having been renovated into a regular house.

I still wonder how one teacher could teach 1st - 8th grade in one room at one time ?

My school here on the south side of Chicago was Kindergarten through 8th grade. I too thought that was the normal thing until I met a lot of kids in high school from other towns who told me about their "junior high".

Nursery ... Pre-K
Kindergarten ... K
Elementary ... 1st grade - 6th grade
Junior High School ... 7th - 9th
Senior High School ... 10th - 12th
