I have a big stereo stand set up in my office with a receiver and CD player (plus video equipment too, and a bunch of Alien toys sitting on the top!). My turntable broke down a while back and I'm planning on picking up a Pro-ject turntable soon (I miss playing my records!)

Wow you guys, I love all the vintage-y goodness, and it's really great that some of you still love your old-school stereos! Especially Donkey Hoatie and SpaceCaps!

I am still longing for a good console TV set. I've seen some real beautiful ones, some even w/ the built-in stereos, but that's another topic!

Two years ago, this week, we had an estate sale when my Grandmother down-sized to a senior apartment. She had an old, gutted console stereo that we couldn't give away. I considered adding new speakers and a tablet and then using it as an actual stereo, but I didn't picture us using it much. Instead, I turned it into a bar. It works very well in the corner of our dining room. Ed was appalled at first, but has grown to tolerate it. Quite a few guests have lifted the lid expecting to find music, only to find booze.

Wow, an old school one w/ a hanger! Man I remember parties at our house when I was a kid w/ a stack of records on the spindle ready to drop. Nice set-up!

Groovy, but a classic stereo would be even cooler. (I don't drink much!)

It was a tough call. This is the basic idea I found for the stereo

But we have that nice 1980s setup in the basement and a sound bar in the living room, another music source seemed pretty redundant.
We don't drink much, but it is nice to have have spot for the booze, which was previously on the floor in the back of the pantry. (which should tell you how often we access it).

I'm currently using a basic MP3 player(Sandisk Fuze). Still have a box of 45's and a plastic drawer bin full of cassettes(unscoped FM radio airchecks), but nothing to play 'em on.

That's awesome, Rallygirl. My parents had a vintage black & white console TV that my uncle planned on converting into a bookcase, but he passed away before he could do anything with it. Mom & dad also had a big console stereo system(turntable & AM/FM tuner/LP holder) when I was growing up. I remember using that thing up until the early 1990's. Wish I had grabbed it when mom sold the family homestead in 1997.
