My wife is terrific, especially since I sort of turned my collecting/customizing into the core of my graduate studies. She's given up the entire study to let me turn it into a studio/custom lab. She's become much more tolerant of my displays (even lets me have some stuff out in the main areas of the house).

Lately she's been interested in the first edition Polly Pockets from the late 80's-90's, and has made some noise about wanting to start collecting those herself. If I can find it, I may get her the Paris playset for Mom's Day!

Of course, it helps that my kids (esp. my daughter) enjoy them so much.

She got me into all of this (got my first Mego from her), but I don't think she was prepared for what has followed since then
But she's more open to it nowadays, she even helps me sometimes with my customs and she'll always point stuff out that she thinks I could use for customs or displays

Well, I'm no longer married, and I really don't date anymore. When I was married, I did a small amount of collecting, and my ex tolerated it, barely. He did like cars, and we both put our names on the waiting list at Target when the 12" GIJoes were reissued. Nowadays, we rent my brother's 4 bedroom house, and he and my mom (who I take care of) agreed to let me have 1 bedroom (besides my own) as a toyroom. They both think I'm nuts, but when my brother comes to visit, he gets a kick outta showing his friends my toyroom, and my mom will listen to me rambling on about toys when I go to toy shows, get them from Ebay, or Joe and Paul. So it's all good.

My girlfriend just lets me get on with it, she's quite laid back about it all. That could change though if we get married one day .

I'm in the same boat as you. My wife is very practical and unless there is a practical use to something, it is a frivolous purchase in her opinion. She would much rather have the money go into upgrading appliances or other housewares even though the current ones are fine.

She doesn't have a place in her heart for nostalgia and really didn't grow up in a household with toys. She has been slowly warming to it though. I have never changed and have been collecting over the 20 years I have known her. She sees that the kids get a kick out of it and I think is starting to appreciate that I'm a bit eccentric even if it seems abnormal to her.

Having cool stuff in my dorm room is what got my wife to notice me in the first place. One of our earliest trips together was a toyshow, it's where I decided to pick up mego collecting again, she encouraged it. She stopped collecting toys a while back to concentrate on other interests but I swear, she's a huge enabler.

My kids say that's all I do--work on Planet of the Apes. If I'm not working on Planet of the Apes, then I'm watching it. My husband hasn't said anything about it--he can't understand the obsession. My sister says, "At least we know where to find you." My mom and dad shake their heads in disbelief.

My own wife is a geek like me and used to collect Barbies, so she understands and appreciates my hobby. She thinks Megos are a little odd and funny-looking. and perhaps does not entirely comprehend their appeal. The more realistic lines -- like Gabriel Lone Rangers or the articulated Universal Horror monsters from a few years ago -- seem to grab her attention, though.

My "ex-girlfriend" once commented that "when" we got married all my stuff could stay in the garage and I would be allowed to visit it once in a while.

                            That was 10 years ago.

Actually friends...my wife is pretty kewl. She usually buys me toys for my birthday and Christmas...So she actually encourages my behaviour. Whether she likes to admit it or not, I think she likes the MEGOS...I know for a fact she enjoyed watching JLA cartoons with me, and she can name many characters (even the more obscure ones) in the DC and Marvel universes. I think she just gets ticked when I spend TOO MUCH time glued to e-bay trying to get a great deal (which is rare)

To tick me off...she calls my MEGOS "EMO dolls" or "A-Mego dolls"....

My wife thinks it's crazy. I don't really talk to my girlfriend about it.
