Concession stand at the municipal pool. not sure what the pay was, guessing minimum wage, and free Charleston Chews.

I'd have loved that job as a teen.

In high school I was a movie theater usher, and started the opening weekend of Gremlins! It was a 5 screen theater and we had everything that summer, Ghostbusters, Temple of Doom, The Last Starfighter, etc. The theater owners had a Drive In Theater that backed up to the main theater. It was a great era to be working there with movie output at the time! Made $2.85 an hour to start, but I had all the free movies, popcorn, and pop I could handle. Ended up marring one of the Candy Girls a few years later.

Holy cow, that's eerily similar to my story!
I was loafing at the comic rack at the independent pharmacy in the town I grew up in when I overheard their then-current cleaning/stock boy quit. My mind started racing about all the comics I could buy with a job, so I ran home to ask permission to apply for the position. I went back and nervously asked to speak to the pharmacist, told him I had heard their previous boy quit, and asked if I could apply for the job. He considered me, noted that they usually liked to hire a high school age boy for the job (I was 13 at the time), but agreed to give me a shot.
I ended up working there for 10 years, through high school and college (on breaks and over summers), and only left after graduating pharmacy school. I've now been working in a pharmacy for 37 straight years!

I delivered papers at the age of twelve, but I didn't count that because my payment was only exercise any profits went to gas for my dad's truck, and I quickly learned what a pain in the *** it was as it didn't ofer me any financial benefit.

Okay, for some odd reason, I've always thought you were in a touring metal band. No joke.

BTW, my first real job was in a small department store called Place's as a janitor/gopher/flunkie.

My first job was at a golf and tennis store. I strung tennis racquets and learned regripping and selling golf and tennis equipment. It was great, I learned a lot from it and had great fun. I made 5.00 an hour and thought it was wonderful. I was a senior in high school and worked there well into college. My boss really taught me a lot and I learned a ton about working with people. At the time I felt lucky because my friends that had jobs were all fast food or some sort of food service jobs. I played racquetball like a fiend and could restring my racquet and buy my other stuff at cost. Worked a lot of hours too while I went to school.

Worked at K-Mart for a couple of years. I started out at the check-outs and from there it seems I covered most departments, other than clothing.

Paper route as an early teen. Then I had a job for one day at a supermarket bringing in shopping carts from the cold. I promptly quit and worked at a Tuxedo rental store in the new mall. I was the only guy there, with lots of cute girls who worked with me. Great job.

Toys R' Us in the "Pick Up" area: unloading trucks, moving pallets to the second floor stockroom with a forklift, maintaining/rotating lower & upper stockrooms, customer "carry outs" & "tie downs", assembly (bikes, etc), re-wrap, etc.
