I am not a big drinker, but I appreciate the finer things in life. A year and a half ago, I won a bottle of Pappy Van Winkle 20 year old bourbon. Before that, bourbon to me was some hillybilly crap that you mixed with coke. After winning that bottle, it got me wondering why 300 people would line up and wait 3 hours to get a bottle of bourbon. I started researching it, and just like wine, there is differences in bourbon, just like fine wines. The artist I am (and flipper), I could not bring myself to open that bottle of 20 year old bourbon, so I sold it. I snatched $800 for a bottle that the MSRP a year ago was $125 (and I let it go cheap).
I have since developed at taste for finer bourbons and scotches. I am actually a fan of scotch more than bourbon.
I realize there is good and bad bourbons and scotches.
Right now, my drink of choice is Balvenie 14 year old scotch.
